MINISO discount variety retailer has opened a new location in the Deptford Mall. The MINISO slogan is “Life is for fun!” and the product mix of plush toys, consumer goods, cosmetics, stationary, toys, kitchenware truly conveys that belief.
One way to understand MINISO… with most items under $10 and a “browsable” fun product selection, they fit into a similar category as Five Below, but with an Asian/Japanese style to the store design and selection.
That being said, they have also expanded the product line to offer licensed products including Hello Kitty, Peanuts, Barbie, Marvel, Disney and more!
So while many in the area may not yet be aware of MINISO… they have over 5,500 stores globally! MINISO is just moving into the USA marketplace the last few years, and will soon be opening their 100th store in the US.
In South Jersey a store has been open in the Cherry Hill Mall since 2021, which at the time was their first store on the US East Coast.
Earlier this year they opened their US flagship store in New York’s iconic Times Square. The store has seen immediate huge success, achieving $80,000 in sales the first day open which was a global single day record among all of their stores globally!
Clearly MINISO is making a big splash in the US marketplace!
MINISO Deptford Mall
The new Deptford Mall MINISO store has been open a few weeks but it still seems a bit under-the-radar… Google Maps doesn’t even list it on their maps!
Within the mall they are located on the first floor on the Boscov’s end… between White House/Black Market and Zumiez. Directly across the mall are Sephora and Express.
The MINISO store is very bright and festive… and has the advantage of a colorful product selection which pops with colors and really grabs your attention as you walk by in the mall.
The store has been configured to maximize the depth of the space, so while it is the same width of neighboring Zumiez, the MINISO store is very deep. With shelving fully lining the long side walls and rear, they can accommodate a lot of product just along the other walls.
And of course In the center of the store are a variety of shelving units.
Those outer wall shelves are home to a variety of plush toys including Winnie-The-Pooh, Stitch and Japanese style plus. Snoopy branded bags and other products where just some of the items along the sidewalls.
The product mix also includes sandals, mugs and cups, snacks, bracelets and more.
Simply… it’s one of those stores where young shoppers and adults buying for kids will walk in not really sure about what they are looking for, and just browse the aisles picking up interesting and fun items.
