A-Pot is a new Korean BBQ, Hot Pot and Sushi “all you can eat” coming to Glassboro NJ, in the Center at DoubleTree on Delsea Drive.
The Center at DoubleTree is the shopping center where ALDI, Goodwill, UPS and others are located.
A-Pot will be taking over the former Hibachi Grill Buffet location on the far left side of the center. (If you know where Italian Affair is, A-Pot will be located directly behind it)
An “A-POT coming soon” banner is now hanging over top of the old buffet sign. The leasing company’s marketing documents also list a Korean BBQ as a new tenant there.
So with that intro out of the way… honestly that’s all I know. ha!
While Google already maintains an address listing for the new business, there’s literally no other information online that I can find. Searching on a variety of combinations including A-Pot Korean BBQ and just Glassboro Korean BBQ… I can’t find any website or Facebook page for the upcoming business.
I do know what Korean BBQ and Hot Pot are though (keep reading), but I dont know any details on the A-Pot brand or plans.
Likely it’s just very early in the development stage.
I stopped over at the shopping center earlier today and grabbed a few photos outside, as well as the interior of the former buffet.
The old interior of the former buffet is still sitting there in space! While all of the tables and chairs are gone, all of the buffet stations are still inside.
So as I stated, I don’t really know anything else… if they are just upgrading what is already there for the new A=Pot, or will they be gutting the interior recreating an all new experience?
Korean BBQ & Hot Pot
Honestly while I’ve heard of Korean BBQ for years,,, I never had a chance to try it prior this year when I visited a competing South Philadelphia location.
They also offered hot pot… which was completely new to me!
Well the general theme of both Korean barbecue and hot pot is that you choose your raw food ingredients from a menu filled with a variety of choices, and cook your food right at your table!
The Korean BBQ is based around a center hot plate (bowl) typically built into the table top, so that you and table guests can put your beef, chicken, pork, or vegetables right on the hot plate, and cook everything yourself!
They offer a variety of sauces at the sauce bar, to really bring out the flavors of your entrees.
Hot pot is a variation of that where instead of cooking on a hot plate, you are cooking in a hot pot of broth.
The restaurant I visited in South Philadelphia had a nice configuration on the table tops where the Korean BBQ hot plate bowl was built into the center of the table, and each of the four corners had their own small hot plate where staff set a bowl of the broth.
I did this at lunch by myself so I chose only to try the Korean BBQ.
Honestly I fully understand the appeal, especially if you dine with a group of people.
While some would complain” hey I’m for my meal at a restaurant, why would I want to do all the work”, the setup of the Korean BBQ table makes it a more interactive and immersive experience, shared with your fellow diners.
I’d imagine there’s a lot more interaction and conversation over what the cook next, and what should be ordered in the next round of food.
And likely you’ll find that the cell phones don’t come out as much.
The South Philly restaurant I visited is not the same as the one coming to Glassboro but if you wanted to read more about my experience you can check it out here
