Reading Time: 4 minutes

Raccoon Taproom is a new brewery opening soon at Collingswood NJ’s popular Haddon Ave downtown district, and we have the preview sneak peak photos!

Raccoon Taproom comes from the team behind Swedesboro Brewing in Gloucester County, who were looking to expand into additional areas of New Jersey and found a perfect location match in Collingswood.

The upcoming Camden County Taproom and Brewery is basically “ready to brew” but an opening date is not set yet as they work on receiving their final ABC licensing approval.

The Swedesboro Brewing family has also recently announced they have a partnership with the Trenton Thunder baseball team to operate a craft beer garden at the ballpark, to be called Raccoon Saloon! Plus Swedesboro Brewing is also celebrating their third anniversary in May!

Raccoon Taproom – Background

With Raccoon Taproom, owner Marvin Bowe previously stated he expects to bring six of their flagship Swedesboro Brewing over to the Collingswood brewery, while also offering six new “only at the Raccoon Taproom” recipes.

Marvin shared several updated interior images with 42Freeway, and his team also recently published a preview walkthrough video at their Facebook page.  Follow them for the latest info on both breweries! But keep scrolling for more images here!

The Raccoon Taproom name carries on a theme adopted by Marvin since day one of his original Swedesboro Brewery.

He explains that prior to 1765 the Swedesboro area was called Narraticon, which means Raccoon…. and was named by the area’s first settlers, the Narraticon Indians.

What started as a theme with brewery raccoon mascot named Hoppie as well as their signature Juicy IPA called Raccoon… has now grown into a new second brewery in Collingswood called Raccoon Taproom!

The Collingswood location previously was home to Devil’s Creek Brewery which opened in 2016, and closed this past December.   Days after making their closing announcement we were able to report that Swedesboro Brewing had taken over the space.

Raccoon Taproom – Interior

Over the last four months, Marvin and the Raccoon Taproom team have been working on an interior remodel of the Collingswood brewery space.

The core layout from the prior brewery remain in place… the placement of the bar area, taps, and brewing rom space in the back are the same.

But they’ve done a great job in changing things up to give it a fresher and brighter look.  It seems even the concrete floor has been polished and made lighter.

Gone are the galvanized panels used in the front bar facade and as a backdrop to the beer tap backwall.

New granite countertops have been installed both at the main customer bar area, as well as behind the bar.

In the main tasting room floor, all new tables and chairs are in place offering a more traditional and comfortable seating experience.

The team has left the outer perimeter along-the-window high-top seating and counters in place… perfect for drinking a cool refreshing Raccoon Taproom beer, while getting an awesome view of the activities taking place along Haddon Ave..

The beers? I didn’t push Marvin for details on what is planned for the Raccoon Taproom beer selection. Heck I’m no dummy, I need another reason to come back and try what is new when The Raccoon opens!
