Mark from 42Freeway heads back to Bellmawr's massive Direct Connect project, to review what has changed in the last few months. And yes, there are new things to talk about. This update is really a 7 min YouTube video (bottom of article) but we'll highlight here in writing and photos the things in the video.
Axe throwing is booming right now, with several locations opened in South Jersey and a few more planned… and in the 42Freeway turf we have Primitive Axe located on Rt 47 in Glassboro! Primitive Axe opened this fall in the shopping center located directly behind the Glassboro McDonald’s.
Axe throwing?! What?! If you aren’t familiar, we’ll borrow the following description from the Primitive Axe website
Axe throwing is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and you can drink beer while you do it! Seriously though, it is a high energy competition that pits you against your friends and family in round robin and single elimination formats. Scoring is gauged by your ability to get a sharp axe stuck in a painted target repeatedly to win the event. Like darts, but actually fun.
The Glassboro location is owned by area residents Adam and Christina Pennypacker. Adam and Christina have had several successful businesses and after visiting another axe throwing business they took the chance and opened their own location in Glassboro.
Within the facility is about 15 throwing lanes (from my vague memory), a front lounge area, and a very nice private room to better accommodate your private event. Our Sunday night visit coincided with league night (yes! There are leagues!) and there was a lively crowd in the building.
While they do not have a liquor license or a kitchen at Primitive Axe, you are allowed to bring your own in!
They do provide an axe coach to get your crew up and throwing quickly!
