Sweet Talk Cafe is a new dessert cafe coming to the Whitman Square neighborhood of Washington Township, on the Black Horse Pike!
The new cafe is owned by Lynsey & Matt DeSimone, who live right in town!
They will be featuring her amazing gourmet desserts (made right in the store) as well as delicious coffee from the Ocean City Coffee Company!
Sweet Talk Cafe will be located in the small strip of stores located directly behind the Arby’s on the Black Horse Pike, right at the Whitman Drive entrance to the Whitman Square neighborhood.
While the fun and attractive Sweet Talk Cafe front sign is up at the new bakery, the couple are just now starting the interior remodeling work to convert the mostly empty space into a dessert and coffee showplace!

Sweet Talk Cafe – Artistic Dessert Cakes and Baked Goods
It’s interesting how at times it seems the planets can align to make good things happen.
So I follow along with a few Washington Township Facebook groups and two topics regularly come up in the chats.
- We need more locally owned bakery coffee shops in town!
- I wish more businesses would move “onto the Pike!”
And then there are the DeSimone’s who have also been reading along… and forming their own dream of a family bakery to showcase Lynsey’s talents.
Lynsey has been in the bakery business her entire life, having created amazing desserts and cakes for the bakeries of a large regional supermarket group…. and she also managed bakeries! A full understanding of bakery operations!
While she loves her career and creating new baked goods, it was always working for someone else.
The time became right for Lynsey (with help and support of Husband Matt) to take all of her skills in baking amazing desserts and running a bakery business… to start their own Cafe!

STOP! So this is where I am going off my original script. I had this post written and just needed to add a few photos.
So as I was wrapping up this article I took a look at some of Lynsey’s social media accounts to grab a photo of two of what she has created.. and was simply blown away.
Lynsey is clearly doing baked goods at another level! She has beautiful cakes and cupcakes that I can’t wait to try…
But what also caught my attention is she is VERY artistically talented. Everything is so flawlessly created and her character based baked items are absolutely adorable!
I don’t know what the full plan is for the new bakery… but I can’t wait to see the delicious fun she’ll have cooked up!
Sweet Talk Cafe – The Location And Store
So now back to the regularly scheduled article…! Ha!
The couple has actually been planning this Cafe for a few years. Of course the pandemic slowed everyone one up a bit.
And it’s also just really tough at times to find the right space for your new business. There is a sense of permanency to making that final location decision!
Well they came up with a perfect location.
The new store location is situated along the busy Black Horse Pike, but alongside a key residential entrance road (Whitman Drive). Whitman drive at the Pike also has a traffic signal and turnaround.
The location will really make it easy for customers, neighbors and those passing through to pull in for a amazing baked treat or a delicious fresh brewed cup of coffee.
And if you live in the Whitman Square neighborhood you never have to enter onto the Black Horse Pike to get to Sweet Talk Cafe!
So while many in Facebook will say a very generic “someone should open up an X on the pike!”… The DeSimones are actually doing it! They are opening an awesome new business on the Black Horse Pike! And they are giving their neighbors what they’ve been asking for!
Sure the sign is up at the cafe, which is a “good sign” (Get it?!).. but I chatted with Lynsey yesterday and she tells me they have a lot of work ahead…. but they have a crew who is ready to move fast.
Previously the space was SJ Music… which is not really configured for a bakery!
As part of the interior work they will need to build a kitchen, bathroom, display areas, front lobby seating and more!
Plus all of the decorative touches which will need to be added!
Ocean City Coffee Co.
The new Sweet Talk Cafe Facebook page made the big announcement just this week!
The Sweet Talk Cafe will be featuring the Ocean City Coffee Co. coffees!
For those who visit Ocean City NJ, you already know how delicious the Jersey Shore town coffee is!
The actually roast the coffee at one of their boardwalk locations, and it will be delivered fresh to Sweet Talk Cafe.
Sweet Talk Cafe will also carry the teas and other items from Ocean City Coffee Co.!
Washington Township Proud
It’s obvious Lynsey and Matt feel a connection to Washington Twp. Matt grew up here (and Lynsey one town over in Williamstown!), they bought their own home in “Township” years ago, and now are they are opening their business here!
They literally can’t wait to be able to serve the community and beyond with their amazing dessert baked goods and coffee!
They are hoping for an early 2023 opening and are very eager to have the community come out for the Grand Opening… and then again and again after that!
