I had many options for my lunch when I toured Rowan Boulevard last week, but the smell of delicious hoagie ingredients in Ricci’s Hoagies shop grabbed a hold of me. I came back after my Boulevard tour for a delicious Italian Hoagie, and I even took one home for the family.
Ricci’s qualifies as a post for several reasons; Well.. they are located on Rowan Boulevard and I am focusing on those stores right now.
Second, they did just open on Jan 22 of this year. Less than 2 months ago, and I think a lot of people don’t know about this place.
And three… and maybe most important and possibly a reason you drive over to Glassboro to check them out instead of your local spot… this is the second location of the eatery, the first one being a well known and respected place in South Philadelphia. How respected? How about “Philadelphia Magazine’s Best Hoagie of 2017“, an honor they won for their Old Fashioned Italian.
But that’s not the end of the accolades. There are many. Popular Philadelphia Blog news site Billy Penn joined up with Yards Brewery to do a “best Sandwich in Philly” bracket contest in 2016… well John’s Roast Pork sandwich won it all… but South Philly Ricci’s Old Fashioned Italian came in second and won the Hoagie category. No shame in that.
To be clear, these awards went to the South Philadelphia original location (which is just about a block away from Pat’s and Ginos), but you don’t have to drive over to South Philly to try the award winner, as the Glassboro location uses the same meats, the same rolls, and the same techniques to make delicious hoagies.
And you don’t have to pay the tolls.
And to finalize “Glassboro is awesome” theme… both Ricci’s locations use rolls from Liscio’s bakery, in Glassboro!
