Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers Expected For Deptford

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers Expected For Deptford

A Raising Cane’s Chicken Finger restaurant is expected to be developed in Deptford NJ, at the former site of the Don Pablos restaurant in front of Target. 42Freeway sources state the Don Pablos building will be torn down and rebuilt as one of their signature styled buildings.

Raising Cane’s is a chicken finger restaurant with a cult-like following. They are to chicken fingers what In-And-Out is to burgers! Fans love them and sing their praises!

A 2020 article at Forbes says their Average Unit Volumes are greater than McDonald’s!

The information on the Deptford location comes from trusted Construction Industry sources.

Today in fact crews were on site at the former Don Pablos property doing underground utility surveying.

Their efforts will identify the underground utility connections to the property, which will be provided to project architects to be used in design of a new Raising Cane’s building.

While I did stop at the Deptford site today for updated images, I did not talk to crews on hand and they are not the source of my information. But seeing them did have me decide “aahh I have to get this article online!”

For suburban locations it seems that Raising Cane’s prefers stores to have drive-thru windows, which further indicates that the old Don Pablos building will be demolished so a store with proper drive-thru lanes can be developed.

This 42Freeway news of a Deptford location comes soon after the final town approvals for Raising Cane’s locations in Cherry Hill and Marlton took place last week.

While several media outlets had coverage last week on the new South Jersey stores after the Planning Meetings, 42Freeway had previously “broken” the news on the Cherry Hill location over 2 months ago.

Our friends at “A View From Evesham” had the news of a Marlton location a week before that back in mid-June. (Facebook)

I was aware that the Cherry Hill and Marlton locations were in Planning Meetings last week but I wasn’t able to attend the meetings! Aahh!

And now.. only 42Freeway is telling you a location is coming to Deptford!

42Freeway also had the lead on Don Pablos closing in Deptford back in 2019.. and then the plans to develop it as a Millers Ale House (which was subsequently cancelled, presumably because of Covid impacts Oct 2021)

If you haven’t made the connection yet, Millers required a liquor license and the chicken finger chain does not serve alcohol as far as I know… so seems the landlord will be holding onto the license for a bit.

This Deptford project for Raising Cane’s will absolutely need to go before the Planning Board for approval. At this time we do not see them scheduled to appear, but would expect to see them soon.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers – What the Cluck Are They About?

Earlier this year Raising Cane’s opened their first Philadelphia location on Walnut Street in the University City area.

And they have since opened their 600th location.

For my coverage on the Cherry Hill location two months ago, I visited the Philadelphia restaurant to try them out, and to take some photos!

Note: a second Philadelphia Raising Cane’s just opened in the Temple University area.

Straight up I will tell you there are very good. Delicious actually.

The breading is flavorful and crispy.. but not too thick. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, with just the right about of texture.

They also have their own signature Cane’s sauce which seems based on Thousand Island dressing but with an extra tanginess.

And it really is all about chicken fingers. Sure they have sides such as french fries, coleslaw and Texas Toast… but there is just one main dish.

Well, the have a sandwich also but it is made from three chicken fingers!

For my visit two months ago I had a combo which ended up being a huge amount of food. I think $10.50 is now a comparable fast-food price for a combo and for that I got…

4 chicken fingers, a huge pile of crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and a Coke.

The platter of food was enormous!

The french fries were plentiful and just straight up potatoes from our great earth.. no batter or sugar coatings. Just the way they were meant to be.

Coleslaw was perfect and not too sweet.

Texas Toast… soft on the inside, crisp on the outside.

Now I want to head to Philadelphia for another order of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers!!

We’ll keep you up to date when the the Deptford location for Raising Cane’s appears before the Planning Board.
