Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Washington Twp Smoking up a Mid/Late September Opening. Photo Tour! Hiring!

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is just a few weeks away from opening in the “Acme” shopping center on Egg Harbor Road in Washington Township (Gloucester County) NJ.

We stopped in this week and chatted with owner Chris Bruno, who is not only a local currently living in Mantua, NJ.. as of last week he and his wife are proud new parents!

While they are not open yet the restaurant is 99% ready to roll. They have a few remaining small details to work out and then final town inspections. So it’s tough to pinpoint an exact date but Chris is hoping for mid-month.

And with a few short weeks to go, they are still actively hiring for team members. Scroll down for details.

To be honest the construction was so completely done, there was a clean-up crew from the contractor on site just to clean up any final dust from the build-out.

As you’ll see from the photos the store is very beautifully styled with eye catching wall treatments and of course a lot of barbecue themed woodgrain!

Mark from 42Freeway got the full preview tour, and Chris explained what customers should expect when they visit Dickey’s Barbecue Pit!

The new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is located in the Washington Center Shoppes at 415 Egg Harbor Road Sewell (Washington Township NJ).

They are located on the right side of the strip mall segment just a few doors away from Bistro Di Marino.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Sewell, NJ – Barbecued in House!

We first reported on the plans for the new Egg Harbor Road restaurant back in February of this year.

It’s been a long time since then, but Chris explains that delays with getting in all of the necessary equipment has been the biggest challenge.

Dickey’s is a franchise restaurant with over 550 locations. They are on a big growth drive right now with 54 new locations opened up last year.

All of their barbecued meats are smoked onsite in a hickory wood smoker!

Dickey’s slogan is… Legit. Texas. Barbecue. And it seems they back that up!

They offer eight slow-smoked meats, 12 wholesome sides.. and a lot of other delicious items!

Barbecue meats include brisket, pulled pork, marinated chicken breast, turkey breast, polish kielbasa, chicken wings and of course fall-off-the-bone pork ribs!

Chris was showing me the digital menu boards and I picked right up on the giant baked potatoes they offer! Offered in a variety of flavors!

In South Jersey you can find Dickey’s Barbecue already open in Egg Harbor Township, with other locations coming to Willingboro and Mt Holly.

And yes.. there are locations in Egg Harbor Twp and a Sewell Egg Harbor Rd so make sure if you use online ordering in the future, you pick the right location!

Ready to Smoke’em Up! And Now Hiring!

I actually hung out chatting with Chris at the store for probably an hour or more.

Chris is a smart young guy having built a career in industrial engineering. He and his wife saved a few pennies to move into their own business adventure.

It’s clear he loved his career as an engineer, but like many folks right now (ahem.. me!) Chris wanted to take a shot at being his own boss, running his own business!

So he put the day job on hold and headed into the fulltime barbecue pit master business!

Dickey’s Sewell owner Chris Bruno is a local guy living in Mantua NJ… and as of this week a new Father! Two new babies for him as his Washington Township restaurant is expected to open later this month.

Chris had a lot of great things to say about the Dickey’s franchise experience. And the way he explained what they offered as part of the package, it was clear to understand that Dickey’s knows their way around barbecue, and how to run a successful business.

There was also a lot of praise for Connor Construction out of Blackwood NJ who was the general contractor for the build-out.

Despite all of the best and smartest designs, at times when it all comes together at the site things just don’t fit as planned and Connor Construction seemed to always be flexible and offer alternative (better!) solutions.

Dickey’s Sewell owner Chris had only positive things to say about his experience with general contractor Connor Construction. Based right in Blackwood NJ!

So as I said… as Chris and I were chatting, a cleanup crew was in the restaurant cleaning out any of the remaining construction dust and debris. They really are ready to roll.

All that’s needed now are customers! Well a half-step before that… Chris needs more employees!

Dickey’s Barbecue Sewell – Hiring

For now Chris is going to function as restaurant General Manager and he needs crew members and shift leads.

But he’s hoping that the success of the restaurant leads him to more locations, giving his employees even more opportunities to grow.
