Ace Pickleball Club is a newer state-of-the-art indoor pickleball franchise, and they are coming to Voorhees New Jersey… to be located in the Eagle Plaza on Haddonfield-Berlin Road.
At 22,000 square feet the space is the third largest unit in the center (after Acme and Ross). Ace Pickleball will be on the far right side of the center, in a unit which for many years was home to an Office Depot store.
Ace Pickleball will be situated next to the Wine Warehouse and a soon to be open Salons By JC.
This is a another nice lease signing for the Eagle Plaza team, who also has Five Below & Bath and Body Works stores coming (likely 2024)
The Voorhees location for Ace Pickleball was just announced at the end of August, and in my visit to Eagle Plaza this morning it appears that construction has not started yet on the buildout. It’s likely just too early in the buildout phase and they are probably working on interior designs and permitting.
Ace Pickleball is a new national franchise company which in less than a year has signed on 61 locations! They just recently opened their first location in Roswell GA, with another in Fort Wayne IN opening not far behind.
The team behind the Ace Pickleball Club were directly responsible for the development process and operations of nearly 200 Sky Zone Trampoline Parks… and they are bringing that same expertise of building out a successful fitness oriented brand, into the indoor pickleball court marketplace.
While I don’t have specifics on the full build out for Voorhees, I can see that for the recently opened Roswell GA location (which is about 50% larger in sq footage) they have 14 indoor pickleball courts within the large open space… including a main interior front desk building featuring a Grab-n-Go cafe, pro shop and lockers.
The Roswell location even features a second floor mezzanine which looks out over all of the courts!
I would imagine that based on the smaller square footage of Voorhees, the Eagle Plaza location will likely have fewer courts than 14… but at almost 23,000 sq ft its still a significant space!
Ace Pickleball Club – Member Focused
Ace Pickleball Club says they are member focused… Members never pay additional court fees. They are provided unlimited open play, and court reservations are included in the membership fee
While you can play at the courts without an Ace membership, members will be prioritized first.
Ace Pickleball club offers professional grade cushioned courts which are the same services you’ll find at premium outdoor venues… and all courts meet or exceed regulation size standards for optimal spacing.
Everything is developed as a permanent court, net, lines… and the space includes permanent fencing to prevent errant balls from interrupting your game.
And of course with the entire facility being indoors you never have to worry about weather!
Ace Pickleball Club also features from all levels of pickleball players. For more established players they offer Tournaments and Leagues. For more causal play you can schedule social or corporate events, and even Glow-In-The-Dark parties!
Advanced Tech: Playsight Instant Replay and Picklehead
Ace Pickleball has signed on two technology partners to really take the facilities to a higher level.
Playsight utilizes cameras positioned on the courts to capture your gameplay… and at your option you can livestream your play, or have it recorded so you can review that last amazing shot from the ease of your own smartphone!
For scheduling and finding new partners, Pickleheads scheduling technology allows you to lock in your court time, recruit local players, or discover games that are happening at Ace Pickleball.
Pickleball – America’s Fastest Growing Sport
Pickleball is America’s fastest growing sport right now and it is sweeping through South Jersey communities.
The Association of Pickleball Players states that pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the nation for the 5th consecutive year in a row, with 48.3 million US adults (19% of the population) having played at least one game in the last 12 months
Back in May of this year I stopped in at Deptford New Jersey’s newer public courts and caught up with athletic director Charlie, who gave me the rundown of what pickleball is all about… and we even recorded a video!
I’ve covered several new pickleball courts planned for South Jersey and it seemed most readers in the area just didn’t know what the sport was all about.
While many have associated pickleball with a senior citizen sport, the reality is it’s catching on with all ages and demographics. More than 70% of avid pickleball players are between the ages of 18 and 44, and 40% are between 25 and 34.
Pickleball is somewhat a mix of several court-based sports. Tennis, badminton and ping-pong are the three most likely choices.
After playing pickleball myself, I felt it was still most closely aligned to tennis… just on a smaller court. And instead using a bouncy, rubbery tennis ball… pickleball uses a hard plastic ball.
Paddles are also smaller and they do resemble ping pong paddles, but you still swing them more like a tennis racket.
Which all leads to Pickleball’s appeal to people of all ages. While it’s still a very fast sport, the smaller court size as well as the hard plastic ball (which doesn’t have the same bounce characteristics of a tennis balls) makes the game easier to play across all ages.
