Chipotle Vineland is Open. Five Guys Opens Mid-March

A new Chipotle location is open in Vineland across from the Cumberland Mall. Also, the long-awaited Five Guys (just a half mile down Delsea Drive in Millville) is expected to open in mid-March.

I stopped down today to find the Chipotle opened yesterday, and Five Guys opens in about two weeks!

Both new restaurants are on the same side of Route 47, separated by the Route 55 interchange and less than a 1/2 mile apart. North of Route 55 is Vineland (Chipotle) and South is Millville (Five Guys).

Chipotle – Vineland

Chipotle has taken over a freestanding building which previously was an Arby’s. It sits directly next to an existing Taco Bell.

The shopping center behind the Chipotle has seen an amazing transformation from a closed Kmart into a thriving center.

The larger center is owned by the Raymour and Flanigan group, who just a few years ago completely renovated the former Kmart building… adding one of their signature Raymour and Flanigan furniture stores as well as a Gabe’s discount merchandise store. Also, an all new construction ALDI grocery store and an Olive Garden were also added.

I stopped in at the Chipotle around 1:00 PM today to find a completely packed parking lot in the area of popular Tex-Mex restaurant.

Walking inside there was a line of customers to a level that I have never seen at Chipotle, or at least in about 7 years back when it seemed Deptford was the only location in South-South Jersey. The customer line at the Vineland Chipotle location literally wrapped all the way around the inside of the store!

This Chipotle location was developed with the Chipolane drive-up order pickup concept.

By appearance it would seem to be a traditional fast food drive-thru, but at Chipotle the “Chipotlane” is simply for quick pickup of online orders. Chipotle will not take an order at the drive-thru window!

If you are unfamiliar with Chipotle, they are a Tex-mex fast casual restaurant serving fresh store prepared food… with key options being bowls and tacos. An entree typically consists of a base protein such as their signature chicken, then stacked with your choice of ingredients including cheese, lettuce, sour cream, sauces and more.

Five Guys – Millville

People have really been anxiously awaiting the Five Guys hamburger restaurant coming to Millville.

Not because they love it more than Chipotle… but the Five Guys unit has had its bright red signage up on the building for many months now teasing people since early fall into thinking that the store was opening very soon! “Is it this month? It’s gotta be this month?!”

Well with it being March 1st it finally is… THIS MONTH!

The goal is for a mid-March opening, and they are hoping for the week of March 11^th.

The Five Guys location is in the Union Lake Crossing Shopping Center (On the other side of the Route 55 exits from the mall), in the front building which faces the highly traveled Delsea Drive. This popular shopping center is home to Target, Kohl’s, ShopRite and more. I featured their upcoming changes last month.

Within that front building of Union Lake Crossing, Five Guys is on the left side and directly next to the Buffalo Wild Wings full restaurant.

I walked into the hamburger and fries eatery today and chatted with manager… Who actually manages the Deptford location, but was down in Vineland to help them out with the final details of the buildout as well as staff hiring.

And yes they are actively hiring right now as they expect to open the store in about two weeks!

Inside the store all of the main construction appears completed, with the signature red and white tile in place and bright red signage.

That being said I only snapped one photo inside as construction workers were throughout the unit knocking out items on the final punch-list… which meant there were tools, ladders and other equipment around the unit.
