The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge is an innovative and beautiful bar/lounge gastropub coming to Pennsville NJ, featuring four premium indoor golf simulators as a main attraction.
But within the all new open space is also a full restaurant and bar.
There really is nothing like The Engine House in all of South Jersey, let alone Salem County.
The all new construction building is set to open in early June and is being developed by two Salem County area firefighters, Fred Ayers and Johnny Maxwell.
Note: At the time of the original publication of this article, the golf lounge was Hook & Irons. On June 1st they ownership announced they establishment will instead be known as “The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge”

As you read on and you’ll realize this is a big-time investment where the ownership team is sparing no expense to deliver an amazing experience… yet it’s all from the minds and hearts of two local guys who dedicated their lives to protecting others.
The bio for Fred and Johnny includes leading teams in local fire departments like Salem City, employment in the fire prevention and security teams at PSEG Nuclear plant in Salem… and also considerable time as DJ’s and bar staff in a variety of South Jersey bars and restaurants.

The Engine House : Fore!!!
The property is located at 106 North Hook Rd which has long been the site of restaurant/bars (a notable name was Sidelines).
As mentioned though, when the team took over the property the old building was demolished and they started all new!
Likely a part of the reason for the fresh start is that the centerpiece for the new The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge are four premium indoor golf simulators which require higher ceilings and a larger open space… It just made more sense to start from scratch.
The new post frame construction building has portions that are two stories (with a mezzanine space), but the new building design allows for large expanses of open space where the The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge team put considerable thought into making this a premium golf and social lounge experience.
The simulator area? They aren’t simply placing a couple of screens and projectors in the room and calling it a simulator area. Each bay provides a custom crafted lounge experience that provides you and your friends a focused area to hang-out and have fun, while still being open to the larger bar and restaurant experience.
Well just looking at the architect design simulations for The Engine House you can see that this is something special. The team has really designed a full premium lounge, gastropub and golf simulator experience.
And I’ll have more on the simulators below, but I wanted to mention early that with the movie theater quality projector based systems you can also play a variety of family fun games!
Or you can visit The Engine House just to grab a cold beer and a delicious meal!
And even when the simulators aren’t in use the staff can use the amazing projectors to show the big games in all their 4k glory!
With the layout of the simulator areas they’ve done a very smart design decision in keeping the space open so you won’t feel isolated from the rest of the bar and lounge.
They offer a private space to focus on your next crucial shot at the course, while enjoying a good laugh with your friends… all within the sights and sounds of the lounge and gastropub.
The overall design of the interior has a high-end modern look to it but with significant wood details throughout, which give it that comfortable premium golf course country club feeling.
A large bar area is part of the design as well as other bar activities such… maybe even shuffleboard?
The partial second floor mezzanine will feature dedicated event space for family parties, events or work team outings.
The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge will truly be something that we have not seen in South Jersey.
Full Swing Pro 2.0 Simulator
All four simulator bays at The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge will feature the Full Swing Pro 2.0 simulators. The Full Swing company describes them as the most advanced simulator ever.
According to the website each Full Swing simulator starts at $55,000. And The Engine House in Pennsville will have four of them!
Honestly… at the end of the day golf is just a game, but the folks at The Engine House are not playing around when it comes to giving you the best golf simulator experience… while in a relaxing lounge and gastropub environment.
Full Swing Simulators are officially licensed of the PGA Tour, and have also partnered with NBC TV golf. And since 2015 Tiger Woods has been part of the full swing team!
What led me to Full Swing was it simulated exactly what I was doing on the golf course… I trusted the numbers right from the get-goTiger Woods on the Full Swing line of golf simulators
Full Swing Pro are the only golf simulator that measures your ball at impact with an overhead Ion 3 camera, and then in flight using a combination of infrared technology and high-speed blue light LED cameras, to capture and show your golf ball’s real flight on the screen… all with no delay.
Five different specialized cameras to capture the flight and speed of the golf ball!
They promise the most realistic ball flight of any simulator on the market.
And each projector is 4k “movie theater” quality, which offers the truest recreation of the golf course!
I’ll be back around opening time to share the full experience of The Engine House Golf and Social Lounge. Until then be sure to “like” their Facebook page for regular updates
