Just a few days ago the latest location for Capt’n Chucky’s Crab Cakes opened in Runnemede NJ, and 42Freeway stopped in to check out the new specialty seafood market.
From the Runnemede location owners, this is how they describe the offerings at Capt’n Chucky’s.
We are dedicated to providing the finest selection of tasty seafood fare, including award-winning crab cakes, wild-caught steamed shrimp, soups, specialty appetizers, and complimentary sides and salads.
We first brought word of Capt’n Chuck’ys coming back in October in a “Runnemede Round-up” of 3 new restaurants in town.
Capt’n Chucky’s Crab Cake in Runnemede is located at 754 W. Clements Bridge Road in the building which previously was Gerace Jewelers.
This is that busy intersection which dips down as you get close to Deptford and Sam’s Club, which also has Timber Creek Liquors and 7-Eleven.
Capt’n Chucky’s is a daytime market, and their hours are never later than 6pm. I wanted to get that out early in case you decide to stop over. More on the hours and offerings below!
Locally Fresh, Heat & Eat At Home!
In my visit last week, I picked up Colossal Crab Cakes, Monster Stuffed Shrimp, and a quart of Manhattan Clam Chowder.
I took them home, heated everything up and… Wow! It was all really delicious and fresh!
Now I am not a review guy… at least in writing. Maybe I’ll do more with YouTube video reviews in the future.
I can say the Colossal crab cake was loaded with crab meat, had a nice crispy crust, and a softer and tender interior. Heating up at home made this as freshly cooked as possible!
The clam chowder reminded me of Manhattan clam chowder my family used to buy when I was a child! Mmmmm!
Capt’n Chucky’s describes themselves as a market… and they most definitely are.
So as you just read, they also offer delicious locally prepared seafood items such as crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, soups and more!
I mean “crab cakes” is in the name, so of course they have them!
But they are not an restaurant, and do not have fryers or ovens in the store.
So when you buy some of their delicious Capt’n Chucky’s crab cakes, clam chowders or other items, you are taking them home to be heated up.
Which ensures you have the best and freshest eating experience when home.
And Capt’n Chucky’s makes it easy for you. The fresh crab cakes and stuffed shrimp we purchased last week had the simple heating instructions right on the container…
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
Easy peezy.
Quick to heat up and then you are guaranteed to get a perfectly hot crab cake or other seafood specialty item right in your home!

Runnemede Location Details
As mentioned, the new Runnemede location sits at an intersection where 4 busy roads come together… Route 41, Clements Bridge Road, Evesham Road and Station Ave.
The building has been spruced up, and inside there is plenty of room for customers and the Capt’n Chucky product line.
After entering the first thing you notice is the register area and glass refrigerated case… where the freshly made crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, macaroni and cheese, shrimp & crab roll-ups, salads and more are kept.
Like a bakery or other seafood market, these items require the assistance of the Capt’n Chucky’s staff to box.
On the right side wall is a quick-grab refrigerated unit where they keep soups, crab meat, sauces, and their Crab Bowl… which is a crab dip prepared with Crab meat, seasoned cheesy cream sauce… in an Italian Pub loaf!
On the last wall are several glass freezer units where you can find Talluto’s pasta and meatballs (linguini, ravioli, stuffed shells, gnocchi and more , lobster tail, clams, a variety of Capt’n Chucky’s soups.
They even carry Stock’s Bakery desserts from Lehigh Ave Philadelphia, and a variety of breads from Marchiano’s Bakery!

Capt’n Chucky’s Newtown Square PA Website
I mentioned the Wojciehowski family.
Nancy and Chuck trace their restaurant roots back to the 70s, with a long run owning 5 restaurants in Arizona.
They came back to the Philly area in the late 80s to open another full restaurant.
But in 2001 they decided to focus on some of their top selling recipes… featuring crab cakes, which seems to be a winning plan!
