Two all new dispensaries are under construction on the White Horse Pike in Somerdale NJ, located approximately 800 feet from each other.
A new 2,800 sf building has been under development at the corner of White horse Pike and E Maiden Lane since last year.
The full exterior building exterior is in place and it appears they started work on the interior framing. Although in my visit today things looked quiet at this project site.
Then just last week construction crews showed up at an empty lot to the left of the Super Wawa on the White Horse Pike, starting the process to develop a 4,506 sf retail dispensary.
The adjacent Wawa sits at the corner of Somerdale Road, and with the new dispensary project starting to the left of Wawa it basically has this dispensary in the middle of the block.
Both of these projects were approved by the Somerdale Planning Board in the Fall of 2022.
The two dispensaries are completely different projects and ownership, it’s just a coincidence that they moved through the Planning approval process and now construction, within similar timeframes.
Both of these projects moved through the approval process with LLC names not really affiliated with the the retail store names, but I think I have solid guesses below.
White Horse Pike at Maiden Lane
As mentioned, this dispensary is a 2,800 square foot retail marijuana dispensary.
It has an address of 200 N White Horse Pike taking up the full block frontage along the White Horse Pike. Most recently there was a small building (tax office) at the corner of Maiden Lane. Back in 2013 there was another building on the opposite corner at Crestwood.
Both of those buildings were demolished ahead of this project.
The new dispensary will include 23 parking spaces as well as improvements to lighting, landscaping and other associated upgrades.
As mentioned construction on this dispensary started last year for the retail building, with a corner entrance facing the Maiden Lane intersection.
I found a rendering online for the development which ties them to Happy Leaf… which I assume would be the name of the retail dispensary once it opens.
White Horse Pike “Next to Wawa” Somerdale Rd
The second dispensary which just recently started construction, is located to the left of the Wawa (Somerdale Road).
Directly across the street is a portion of the new Reserve At Grace apartment complex, which extends further to the North.
This dispensary building is also an all new construction, and is somewhat larger than the other at 4,506 square feet.
This dispensary will not have direct access from its parking lot to the White Horse Pike and instead well connect to the Wawa parking lot… both near the front of the store closer to the Pike, and also at the very rear.
Accommodating the larger size of the building I count 36 parking spaces will be available. With the positioning of the front door facing Wawa, I imagine that the existing row of parking spots on the side of the convenience store may come into play for dispensary customers also.
This dispensary was also approved to include a drive-thru.., Which I believe in the State of New Jersey is limited to pick up of orders which have been placed online.
While they also do not have an online presence established yet that I could find, the site plan provided to the Camden County for review identifies the building as Natural Selections.
