Time Out Bar in Barrington To Close Late May. Redevelopment of the Property is Expected

Time Out Bar in Barrington To Close Late May. Redevelopment of the Property is Expected
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Barrington’s Time Out Entertainment Bar on the White Horse Pike will be closing late May.  Redevelopment of the property is expected, but those details aren’t clear at this time.

In the meantime, Time Out is still open for bar, food and entertainment… and will be hosting a final weekend live music celebration starting on May 20th!!

Time Out Entertainment Bar

Time Out is a small local bar sitting right on the White Horse Pike in Barrington…  basically between the Rt 295 exits and the Lawnside Home Depot.

They are on the Northern side of the White Horse Pike, next to Victor’s Liquors.  The newer Super Wawa and Chuck Lager’s Restaurant are across the street.

Cold beers and delicious food are a big part of the Time Out experience, but live music has been what has set them apart from most other area establishments.

They regularly offer free music acts on weekends, and special events during the week such as their Thursday Night Open Mic.

Even Mark from 42Freeway has found his way up on the Time Out stage… usually belting out something from The Who with his friends Sordid Past!   😉

Over the years, Time Out has upgraded the outdoor deck area, parking lot improvements, and other upgrades.

Their business model is one that has been sadly disappearing over the years… one that is centered around real people with instruments… playing music and singing in front of crowd in a closer setting.

And Time Out was hugely popular for local fans and musicians.   Very loyal customers and performers, who love the bar, the bands and the Time Out staff.

We see no real indication that a drop in popularity is the reason for the closure… more so its the growing development in the immediate area with a Super Wawa, Chuck Lager’s restaurant, and Chick-Fil-A under development… that has made the Time Out corner more valuable to other projects.

But regardless of the reason, it’s all been fading.  Younger people today have no idea how different “bars” were 35 years ago.

All those National chain restaurants serving alcohol we see scattered around… Circling the Deptford and Cherry Hill Malls for example… well at one time most of those associated liquor licenses were owned by some local tavern offering live music and dancing.   And that has all changed.

So now we can add Time Out to the seemingly regular Facebook posts of “List the bars we used to see live bands at”.

Very sad on many levels.

To be clear, we do not know officially what is planned for the property and the liquor license, but the information we are hearing is that the lot will be cleared for development of a new building (or buildings) supporting retail uses.

The Day The Music Died. A Tribute to Time Out

As mentioned above, Time Out is still open through most of May, and still bringing in live bands!

In fact, this Saturday (May 1st), Sordid Past rocks the place with their powerful classic rock covers!  You’ll sing, dance, and sit back in awe of their talent!  It’s like being taken back to another time when music truly was…. music.   (Facebook Event)

Bands continue on through May at Time Out… but it leads to the big final Tribute weekend later in May…

“The Day the Music Died” is a THREE DAY event from May 20-May 22, featuring over SEVENTEEN bands, both inside and outside!
