The Route 130 Bridge Over Big Timber Creek will be closed Monday night starting at 6:00 PM until 9:00 AM Tuesday morning… as crews shift traffic lanes over to the recently reconstructed new bridge deck.
IMPORTANT: The timing of this traffic shift touches into both the Monday evening rush hour as well as the Tuesday morning rush hour… Area commuters would be smart to adjust their schedules and routes to account for this.

This is part of a $54 million project to rebuild the bridge which connects Westville to the Western Brooklawn Circle by carrying traffic over the Big Timber Creek,
To facilitate a continuous flow of traffic during the development process, the project was designed to rebuild the bridge in two lengthwise halves.
The first half of the Bridge has been completed and contractors will be moving on to the remaining half of the bridge.

Two years ago this project started with both directions of traffic being shifted over to 1/2 of the older bridge (southbound segment). Starting Tuesday morning, both lanes of traffic will be shifted over to the new section of the bridge… which I believe is slightly wider and should offer more space for cars, but we’ll have to wait until Tuesday morning to see how the barriers are placed.
It is expected by 9:00 AM Tuesday May 13th that the Route 130 Bridge Over Big Timber Creek will be reopened… With both directions of traffic driving on the newly rebuilt bridge decking section.

NJDOT says this project is being done in 10 stages with stages 1, 2A and 2B complete.
The next stage is 3A and 3B which involves the removal of the old bridge structure and reconstruction of what will be the southbound route 130 southbound deck.
These are full rebuilds of the bridge structure including sub structure, superstructure and roadway, sidewalks curbs and parapets.

Even the removal and replacement of piers and boat fender systems will be done during these stages. This project also includes drainage work which is targeted to assist both with the Route 130 roadway as well as water that collects in the Brooklawn circle area.
I’ve previously reported on those improvements to the flooding that are part of this project, but I expect to have more details shortly.
NJDOTt expects them the project to be completed by late 2026
