The Winslow Diner on Williamstown Road (Sicklerville) has been sold to new owners. A banner on the building confirms it has new ownership and will become a Mexican restaurant.
When I stopped at the building this afternoon at 12:45 the front doors were locked and the parking lot was empty (except a few cars in the back)… so I am not sure of they are closed during a transition, or I just happened to be there on a day they closed early.
The diner had been operating on a brunch schedule, open until 4pm.
I walked around to the back and knocked on the kitchen door (because that’s what the 42Freeway guy does, ha) and was greeted by a gentleman who identified himself as the manager (for the new Mexican restaurant).
He said he could not speak at the time, as he was in a meeting… but I did notice he was wearing a shirt of another smaller local Mexican restaurant, which has a big reputation for it’s Mexican dishes.
So after leaving the Winslow Diner, I stopped in for lunch at the smaller restaurant and ordered a chicken burrito and a chicken tamale. Wow! I can understand why people say this small market restaurant is one of South Jersey’s best Mexican Restaurants!
Unfortunately, there were no managers or owners available at the time… although I did get some acknowledgement about the diner when I asked about it.
That all being said, it is 100% confirmed that the Winslow diner was sold to new owners.
It is 100% confirmed that the former Winslow Diner will become a Mexican restaurant.
What is not confirmed 100% is, who the new owners are.
I called back to the existing small restaurant, and the owner was unavailable. I found phone numbers for at least one of the owners, and they did not respond. I checked County real estate records but it’s too soon for those records to be online.
It’s a tough quandary in that absolutely the Winslow Diner being sold is a news item that should be shared.
But I also dont want to get it wrong regarding who the new owners are. Hopefully the new owners see this and reach out to me!
Winslow Diner
The Winslow Diner had been open for 20 years, featuring a large diner which included a liquor license. Prior to that it was Starview II for a short while (same owner as Starview Somerdale) and then many still remember it as Little Nick’s diner.
For most of those years the name was Winslow Family Diner, and they served a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.
It’s been several years since I visited the Winslow diner so I don’t have any recent impressions to share from my own personal visits.
In 2016, website NewJerseyIsntBoring wrote an article on the Winslow Family Diner and called out the diner’s very large menu which also included a selection of more casual items such as “Freddy” fries, Reuben hot dogs, and burgers
In the Fall of 2021, the diner posted on their Facebook page that they were focusing on a brunch menu, offering shorter daily hours from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
While their Facebook page was changed to Winslow Diner, the full name included “Breakfast & Burger Bar”. The also promoted their Mimosa menu.
The last post at their Facebook page was from June 6th where they promoted their Father’s Day dinner specials with an extended opening until 8:00 PM.
But there’s nothing else posted at their Facebook page to announce that they’ve closed or been sold.
