Ulta Beauty will be opening a store in Glassboro’s Collegetown shopping center, which is located on Delsea Drive.
They have leased a 10,640 square feet space directly next to the new Five Below store. The combined space of both stores was previously a Staples location.
With a name like Ulta Beauty you can likely guess what they are selling within the store!
They offer both high-end and drugstore level cosmetics, skin care, fragrances, and accessories.
Ulta offers their own brands of beauty products and fragrances as well as national brands such as Chanel, Clinique, Dior, Ariana Grande and more.
They have joined a retailer pledge to allocate 15% of their shelf space to black-owned brands.
Today Ulta started their annual Spring Haul sale which runs through April 15th, offering discounts up to 40% off a broad selection of products.
Ulta Beauty – Collegetown Glassboro
I can’t say enough about the folks over at Brixmor who own the Collegetown shopping center.
They’ve done an amazing job not only bringing the shopping center back from the loss of the Kmart store, but have actually improved the center further beyond what it was when Kmart was the lead tenant.
Brixmor also operates the popular Washington Township Cross Keys Commons shopping center, which has also seen a series of excellent new signings.
42Freeway has been following all of the additions at the Glassboro shopping center which include four other larger “big box” stores; Lidl, Big Lots, Ross and Five Below.
Collegetown Shopping Center also recently added Chase Bank, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, European Wax Center, and Chipotle to completely new pad buildings at the front of the parking lot.
I do not have a date on the opening of the new Ulta, but construction industry sources tell me they are actively bidding out the project now. I assume construction would start quickly and the store would be open ahead of the more lucrative fall holiday shopping season.
Youthful Consumers Driving Ulta Beauty’s Success
Recently, Wall Street analysts Piper Sandler called out Ulta Beauty as a top performer. (Seeking Alpha)
They state that a key driver for the growth is teen shopper’s increased spending in beauty products. Ulta is identified as one of the top two companies bringing in the bulk of those dollars.
So it doesn’t take a Wharton graduate to figure out that maybe a shopping center called Collegetown would have a lot of youthful consumer dollars within the area!
Of course locally we know the center is named as such, because Glassboro is home to Rowan University. Thousands of youthful resident and commuter students!
This opened up my eyes to the fact that Five Below, Dollar Tree, and Lidl (also in the shopping center), likely also draw higher numbers of youthful consumers. Market demographic analysis is a real thing.
Within the shopping center it’s an excellent location for the Ulta Beauty store as they will likely benefit from the foot traffic of Five Below directly to their left, and on their right is Dollar Tree and Lidl.
Ulta currently has two other stores in the core 42Freeway area, Deptford and Washington Township.
The Washington Township store is about 6.5 miles away and 15 minutes by car.
