Tractor Supply Proposed for Clayton. Four Locations In-Process for South Jersey

Tractor Supply Company continues their expansion through South Jersey with plans to develop a new retail location in Clayton New Jersey on Delsea Drive.

This would be the 4th location in-process for South Jersey with locations planned or proposed for Mantua, Pennsville, Deptford and now Clayton.

Tractor Supply Company is a rapidly growing retailer specializing in products for hobby farmers and home, offering products for home improvement, agricultural, horse, livestock, pet care, lawn and garden, and even outdoor work clothing.

Their store design features a large 20,000+ square foot store as well as a large outdoor enclosed area for large garden equipment and related seasonal products.

The Clayton location is moving further into the process with a Clayton Planning/Zoning meeting scheduled for Monday April 28^th at 7pm.

Clayton NJ property on Delsea Drive is proposed for a Tractor Supply store. Lot lines are estimated.

This proposed project is located on Delsea Drive at the corner of Madison Ave, across from the Dollar General store.

The proposal calls for a 21,960 square foot Tractor Supply Company retail building with associated site improvements including landscaping, signage, storm water management and site lighting.

With the building sitting at the corner, the main entrance will face Delsea Drive and include a car driveway entrance there. A second driveway entrance will be located on Madison Ave.

The building will feature parking in front of the building (along Delsea Drive), but also offer parking on the Madison Ave side. The outdoor portion of the retail store will be on the far other side of the building (right side).

The project calls for 107 auto spaces as well as three oversized spaces… for a total of 110 vehicle spots.

There are a few variances requested including the outside storage of merchandise in the fence-in enclosure, as well as signage (which is basically a part of every new retail development approval process).

Tractor Supply Company – Sowing South Jersey Locations

Tractor Supply likes to locate their stores right at transition areas between denser suburban areas to more rural farm spaces, where they can pull from a variety of customers.

The Tractor Supply website lists 31 locations in New Jersey, and in South Jersey they are operating in West Berlin, Vineland, Sicklerville, Rio Grande, Pilesgrove, Logan Township, Little Egg Harbor, Hamilton, Egg Harbor, Buena Vista and Bridgeton.

Pennsville Tractor Supply site prep work from earlier this month. The lot setup has some similarities to the Clayton location proposal.

For the three other in-process projects (Pennsville, Mantua, Deptford) I’ve recently provided updates.

The Pennsville location has significant site preparation work taking place with the entire construction lot covered with new soil.

The Mantua location is taking over the former Gino’s Driving Range property on Route 45, and recently crews showed up on site to start removing the structures on the property ahead of development.

In Deptford, Tractor Supply is one of SEVEN national retailers expected to fil the 100,000+ square foot “Bed, Bath, Beyond” building across from the mall.

Still very early in the process is a Tractor Supply Company store planned for Deptford, taking over the Buy, Buy, Baby segment of the large Bed, Bath and Beyond building located directly across from the mall. Since Deptford is a conversion of an existing space it may not need to go to the Planning Board… representatives with the project are hoping to open this winter.
