The Original Banana Company recently opened in Laurel Springs NJ, offering unique frozen treats including frozen chocolate bananas, frozen chocolate pineapples, and their new signature item, The UFO!
Their unique and delicious frozen sweets are great any time of the year, and this Saturday (Dec 3rd) they will be open for the Laurel Springs Winter Fest and Tree Lighting… handing out Hot Chocolate!
Owner Dina has years of experience in the ice cream business. While creatively coated frozen bananas are the foundation of the shop, the ice cream sandwich UFO is quickly becoming their iconic standout item for The Original Banana Company.
The family lives close by in Barrington NJ, so when you shop at the Original Banana Company you are helping a locally owned small business.
The UFO is like a cookie ice cream sandwich except they use their own homemade banana cake shaped similar to a cookie, with homemade banana cream pie ice cream. Truly delicious!
Oh and the peanut butter ice cream…. mmmmm. Amazing!
I had a wonderful time hanging with the family last weekend! While Dina is the “rock” of the business, her sons Kyle and Colin are helping with the business, as well as husband Anthony. I spent a bunch of time chatting with Kyle, who also has a ton of ideas for the shop and new creations! He’s going to keep Mom busy!

In my visit I see they had homemade caramel apples, and they just shared on Facebook they are also selling Homegrown Honey from Cherry Hill.

The Original Banana Company & The UFO!
Last weekend I caught up with owner Dina and family, as they celebrated the Grand Opening of The Original Banana Company.
The shop is located in a classic smalltown style section of stores on Atlantic Ave, which run along the railroad tracks. If you are familiar with the town, they are a block from Laurel Springs Borough Hall.
Dina has years of experience in the ice cream business, and wanted to try something new as she headed out into her own shop
Chocolate Covered Bananas and Pineapple Donuts
Signature and unique is what they are going for at The Original Banana Company, and Chocolate Covered Bananas and Pineapple Donuts are at the heart of their delicious frozen treat menu.
Much more than traditional milk chocolate, Dina and team are regularly coming up with innovative colors, decorations and flavors to take the classic treat to another level.
For the Phillies World Series run Dina offered the bright red and blue Phillies colors and and logos.
Halloween brought out orange and yellow decorated treats… with candy corn!
And Pineapple Donuts?
Dina takes pineapple slices and puts her creative chocolate coating spin on them also… making a really unique and “fun to snack on” frozen treat!
Coming very soon they will have Snowmen shaped bananas and Christmas wreath pineapples!
The UFO! Unbelievable Fantastic Object
The UFOs were only recently created and they featured them at several Fall markets ahead of the shop opening.
They’ve been a big hit, and are getting rave reviews at the Laurel Spring shop.
These delicious sandwiches are made with our freshly made Banana cake, and our homemade Banana Cream Pie Ice Cream!

And they are offering different variations including; Banana Cream Pie, Peanut Butter Banana , and Pumpkin Banana UFOs are also available most days!
I had a traditional Banana Cream Pie version and the banana cake and ice cream really are out of this world!
Ahhhhh.. I get it… The UFO, it’s out of this world!
I also got to try some of Dina’s peanut butter ice cream and just like the banana ice cream, it is bursting with flavor!
Laurel Springs Winter Festival – Saturday Dec 3
This Saturday (Dec 3rd), Laurel Springs is having their Winter Festival in downtown Laurel Springs which is right where the Original Banana Company is located.
The shop will be open during the festivities, and Dina and family will also be handing out hot chocolate!
The Winter Festival features Clydesdale Horse Carriage Rides, a tree lighting ceremony, and even some craft vendors!
The event runs 6-9pm and at 7pm they have the tree lighting ceremony a block away at the Cord Mansion Greene (Town hall)
Laurel Springs is a small town of only 2,000 residents so this really is a more quaint smalltown event… if you live in Laurel Springs or the immediate area consider stopping over and saying hi to the folks at The Original Banana Company.
