A Take 5 car wash is being proposed for Williamstown NJ at the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and Corkery lane. The property previously was used for a Checkers fast food restaurant which had been previously removed.
The plan seeks to construct a 4,110 square foot retail car wash building with related improvements.
Currently the larger corner property also is home to a Rite Aid pharmacy and the PNC Bank. The Checkers restaurant used to be located directly in the corner of the intersection next to the Rite Aid.
A Wawa convenience store is across the street a little further down. Technically Wawa is at the same intersection, but the way the streets are angled the Wawa’s ends up positioned further away from the intersection.
The placement of the car wash along the Black Horse Pike would put it almost an equal distance between the Walmart supercenter and the Williamstown Shopping Center. A Kar Klean car wash is about 1.25 miles to the north.
The public notice states that the applicant is asking for full approval on the project (as expected) and that there really are no variances or waivers related to Monroe Township ordinances. It appears it is a match for the zoning in the RG C regional growth commercial district
Overall the corner property for the car wash is already defined as commercial, and it already had a commercial use previously as a restaurant.
The proposal for the new car wash is scheduled to be reviewed by the Monroe Township (Williamstown) Planning Board on Thursday March 9th at 6:30 PM.
Take 5 Car Wash – Boing US Holdco
The parent company of Take 5 is called Boeing US Holdco, Inc but their car washes are branded as Take 5.
Similar to other car washes, Take 5 is a fully automated system featuring car wash and drying. Many self-vacuum stations are provided outside.
A unique aspect is their Complimentary Pro 5 Detail Center, featuring Armor All Professional brand products. Interior, exterior, windows.. and even microfiber towels!
A big factor in the car wash industry are membership programs, and Take 5 offers that.
The Take 5 website list locations in 31 states but they are new to the New Jersey area and have not opened any in South Jersey yet.
Within the last year they have appeared for car wash development approvals in Maple Shade, Voorhees, Gloucester Township, Delran, Cherry Hill, and Brooklawn.
The Gloucester Township location for Blackwood-Clementon Rd was denied, mainly due to the proposed property being too small.
Take 5 also has a separate oil change business which was approved in Brooklawn and Lindenwold. I’ll have something on the Lindenwold approval shortly.
