Sweet Crumbs is a new specialty bake shop in Pitman’s booming Uptown district which features gourmet cupcakes, cookies and other delicious treats.
They have several unique twists including EACH DAY they are open the entire product offering changes, created from a list of over 300 innovative recipes that chef Janine is constantly adding to.
Unique recipes, creative icing and toppings, plus if that weren’t enough many of their cupcakes are also cream filled!
The bakery is on Broadway but the address is listed as 12th Ave. It sits next to the Police Station, right behind that small side parking lot. Just park as if you were visiting any other Pitman Broadway business!
To pull this off, Janine and her husband Steve (from Washington Township!) are in the Pitman bakery every morning at 4am preparing the fresh baked items for sale that day!
And these are really inventive and fun recipes! I mean with 300+ recipes it’s understandable they are coming up with really unique items.

And when you think the day is over.. they still have to find time to run the business side of things, as well as shop and prepare for the next day.
They are really working hard to create and sell the tastiest and most creative baked goods they can… and honestly one of the most genuinely happy couples I’ve met!
This Saturday they are participating in Pitman’s “Witches of Pitman Shoppe Hop” event (Facebook) and on Sunday’s during football season they offer delicious roast pork sandwiches!
They also make freshly baked dog treats!
And on Fridays and Saturdays they have Gluten Free and Vegan options!

Sweet Crumbs Pitman – Next to the Police Station
Janine has been in the catering business for years and has developed a huge catalog of delicious recipes… appetizers, entrees, desserts.. everything. And her creative mind just can’t stop coming up with new things.
A few years ago she decided to change things up and focus on opening a shop featuring her baked goods. And Pitman was in her radar.
Sweet Crumbs is located in Pitman’s Uptown District, which is the commercial area on Broadway. I’ve covered a lot of really awesome places in Pitman, and Sweet Crumbs truly fits right into the mix of making this a small town street you have to visit again and again.
Their building is as unique as the every changing baked good menu!
Sweet Crumbs is located in a small building between the Pitman Police Station and Mannino’s Cuccina Italiana.
If you know the area you may be thinking.. “wait a minute, isn’t there a parking lot there?”
Well there is, and the Sweet Crumbs building sits directly at the other side of the small parking area in that little white building. It’s literally just a few steps.
Today their building is bright and beautiful… very welcoming.
But just a year or so ago it was a different story. The building had sat for years unused. Ivy and bushes were taking over the exterior. The paint that could seen, was dirty.
But they had the vision and loved the location.. and chose to make it their business home.
Janine says the landlord was amazing in cleaning the place up and retrofitting it to support the bakery, and then her and Steve were able to add the design elements to the space.
Today when you see the place, it all makes sense!
They added a black and white theme with attractive décor items matching the theme and color scheme.
Just a few weeks ago the final touch was added.. a full wall mural painted by area artist Alysia (Facebook page)
While the shop isn’t over large, its smartly laid out giving plenty of room for shoppers and the bakery area. Everything is baked on site!
I spent an hour or more chatting with the couple, and really enjoyed sharing stories on their business and even my 42Freeway “covid resignation” move! I tend to talk a bit too much about the site once I hear some interest. ha!
I mentioned that Sweet Crumbs is a husband and wife team, but Steve is very open about his bakery and kitchen experience… the baking is all about his wife!
But he too is a fulltime employee at Sweet Crumbs, after deciding to take a break from years in the Corporate world. Their daughter is even a part of the Sweet Crumbs staff!
I really enjoyed chatting with them.. and could see from the steady stream of customers that they are well loved in Pitman.
They have a growing list of loyal customers. One older retired gentleman came in while I was there and they told me he stops in every day to purchase several cupcakes!
They also praised Pitman’s events which really bring in a lot of business to the shops on the street.
And Janine even commented that Stephanie from the Chosen clothing store a block away has featured the bakery on her regular Facebook live streams, which brought tons of customers in to the bakery!
Delicious Baked Goods – New Selection Each Day
For my recent visit the bakery case had 9 different baked items, a selection of dog treats including ones shaped like donuts and ice cream cones, plus a box or two of other treats!
With a “new and fresh each day” they typically sell out of items, and with my late morning visit there may have been more items to start the day.
Flavors for the day included the following cupcakes; Purple Velvet, Pumpkin Spiced Latte, Sugar Cookie, Sweet Potato Pie, Netflix and Chill, plus they always have Vanilla and Chocolate.
As an example of the creativity, the Netflix and Chill featured on the icing, snack items you would eat while watching a movie; chocolate covered pretzel, peanuts, and a candy!
Many of the cupcakes are filled and they are noted in the case by a little cardboard cupcake cutout.
Also for sale that day were Cookie Butter Bars and Cannoli Cookies!
Remember the menu changes every day so just pop in and be pleasantly surprised or catch their Facebook videos!
As I look back at this artcil it seems the thing I’ve written the least about are the baked goods. But it’s true a picture speaks a thousand words so that tells you more than I could write… plus you really just need to stop in and experience Sweet Crumbs
Ummm… You Mentioned Roast Pork Sandwiches?
Janine was previously a caterer and many of those customers and friends of course, are also supporting her at the Sweet Crumbs bakery.
And one thing that kept coming up “This is all so wonderful, but I really miss your roast pork sandwiches!’
So with the fall season here, as well as Sunday football.. they have changed their hours to be open on Sundays also…
and Sundays only during football season they are selling Janine’s amazing roast pork sandwiches.
Take note that Sunday hours are only 9-12… and they can run out for the day!
