An all-new construction Sprouts Farmers Market grocery is coming to West Deptford, and they’ve set the Grand Opening date for Friday June 27th.
Located in the Southwood Shopping Center on the Mantua Pike (Rt 45), the ribbon cutting ceremony is set for early morning Friday June 27th at 6:45 AM.
The celebration continues all weekend, with the Sprouts team offering fun give-aways and events Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
For example, on the Opening Day Friday, the first 200 in-store shoppers receive a free reusable bag filled with samples, and the first 400 customers receive a free long stem rose courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral.
The opening date of Sprouts West Deptford was first reported by NJBiz, and also covered by Patch.
Along with the construction of the new Sprouts, the Southwood Shopping Center has been undergoing a full front facade remodel, adding a beautiful and more modern design to the center.
I stopped over today to see that all of the construction fencing has been removed, and it appears new parking lot asphalt will be installed very soon.

42Freeway has been covering plans for this exciting development since we first broke the news back in October of 2023.
The all-new construction 23,256 square foot building was developed at the right end of the Southwood Shopping Center, in an area which previously was home to an ALDI Grocery (ALDI relocated to downtown Woodbury).
For their new stores and where the property supports it, Sprouts tries to develop all new buildings in a very similar footprint and layout to what we see in West Deptford. A location is also planned for Washington Township and it appears to have the same store footprint and layout, with just minimal changes to account for site variations.
Sprouts fits into the more premium grocery category along with Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.
They put a big focus on natural and healthy foods as well as providing a full supermarket experience in a smaller footprint… which includes deli, seafood and meat counters. They even make fresh sushi in the store!
42Freeway readers are always asking for more healthy and premium grocery options, and Sprouts offers the best of both grocery and healthy… and is actually about 40% larger than the standard Trader Joe’s location.
South Jersey Sprouts locations are already open in Marlton and Haddon Township, and as mentioned a fourth location is planned for Washington Township.
The Washington Township location had experienced delays in starting construction most related to approvals required from Gloucester County. Those approvals are fully completed now, and persons familiar with the project had previously told 42Freeway they were hoping for an April construction start (as I wrote in March). Activity has not started yet, but we’ll check with the Washington Twp construction office regarding status of permits.
