Spicy’s Bar Glassboro is Open!  Innovative Menu and Full Bar

Spicy’s Bar has opened in Glassboro’s Rowan Boulevard complex of Restaurants and Retail, featuring an innovative menu along with a full bar which right now includes delicious holiday themed drinks!

42Freeway first wrote about plans for the new restaurant back in October, which is a rebranding/remodel of the former Dawn To Dusk Café.

I stopped in Friday Night just as Glassboro was celebrating their holiday tree lighting ceremony!

Rowan Boulevard was packed with thousands of local residents, and all of the restaurants including Spicy’s Bar were very busy with hungry customers!

For Spicy’s Bar, new owners Nik and Cindy also own Swedesboro’s popular Spicy Affair restaurant, and for their new Glassboro location have combined the best of the former brunch café, with an all new innovative dinner time menu experience and delicious cocktails and beers.

It’s almost like two restaurants in one!

Until 5:00 PM they offer a breakfast/daytime menu featuring all of the classics including eggs, buttermilk waffles, omelets, smash burgers and a variety of handheld sandwiches.

After 5:00 PM the Spicy’s Bar dinner fare menu takes over, offering a mix of tasty familiar entrees, and then moving into more adventurous “fusiony” international items.

The dinner menu starts with delicious classics such as Rigatoni Ala Vodka with Chicken Parm, Pepper Steak and Chips, Filet Mignon… and then also features innovative offerings such as Masala Chicken Wings, or how about Tikka Tacos?

For my main entree I went with Tikka Tacos and it was clear this is one of those dishes where you wonder why hasn’t anyone done this previously?!

Priced at a reasonable $14, it features 3 soft shell tacos loaded with chicken in the very popular tikka masala sauce, resting inside the tortilla on a bed of rice, with a drizzle of yogurt crema.

This instantly becomes a “ohh I have to stop in and try that” dish.

I also got to try a corned beef Reuben sandwich which fits more into their “classics” menu, and was an incredibly tender corned beef sandwich perfectly cooked… a delicious bite.

The Bar at Spicy’s Bar

Nick and Cindy did an awesome (and smart) job remodeling the cafe so that it looks completely different and more upscale, but also within the original design of the former brunch cafe.

The long breakfast counter was converted into the main bar, with a 12 foot section of wall behind the counter recreated into the bar backdrop and beer taps.

Spicy’s Bar has a full liquor license and they are offering a selection of beers, wines, whiskeys and more.

As I mentioned they are offering a holiday drink menu and I went with the Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate with Whiskey Screwball… absolutely delicious!   Be sure to ask for a swirl of whipped cream on top!
