Smoothie King is Open on Blackwood-Clementon Rd Gloucester Township

Smoothie King is Open on Blackwood-Clementon Rd Gloucester Township

Smoothie King is now open on Blackwood-Clementon Road in a newer building which includes three units, with Smoothie King in the middle spot between Chipotle and Wingstop.

The property is located directly across from Royal Farms, and next to the Blackwood Fire Company- Station 84.

Not that it’s always about 42Freeway.com but I’ll take a little bit of credit for this new Smoothie King opening where it did! 🙂

42Freeway first reported on the plans for this location in July of 2022.

After that post I heard from the owner of this Smoothie King franchise location who shared with me that it was the 42Freeway coverage of Chipotle and Wingstop coming to the new building on Blackwood-Clementon Rd, which made him aware of the development and the final center unit being available.

Soon after, the Smoothie King Blackwood-Clementon lease was signed!

Of the three eateries in the new building, only Chipotle has a drive-through/pickup lane. Smoothie King is takeout, dine-in or DoorDash (check other delivery apps for availability)

For many decades this property was home to a Denny’s restaurant. Denny’s closed a few years ago unfortunately, and then later was demolished to make room for the all new construction building.

While Smoothie King has their own loyal customer base, it’s easy to see that having Chipotle and Wingstop also sharing the building, the three restaurants will have customers making multiple purchases “How about we get Chipotle for dinner then stop next door to get a fresh Smoothie King smoothie!”

Locally there are other locations in Berlin, Voorhees, Marlton, Cinnaminson, and Delran.

If you don’t read the entire article, I suggest you download the Smartphone app as they have a rewards program as well as free size upgrades on Friday.

Also… industry reports say that they are working on adding fresh fruit bowls to the menu!

Primarily a franchise based operation, they had almost 1,400 locations as of the 2nd Quarter of 2021

After being taken over by one of its largest franchisers several years ago, the parent company is now a big deal and in fact has the naming rights for the New Orleans arena where the NBA team the Pelicans play.

The Blackwood Smoothie King just opened earlier this month.

I stopped in this past weekend and caught up with General Manager Francis who chatted with me about the Smoothie King brand and the new Blackwood location.

The interior of the new store is bright and modern, featuring their “Rule The Day” slogan on the smoothie restaurant’s walls.

The Rule The Day™ campaign captures the journey of wellness, activity and achievement featuring everyday habits that encourage people to live purposefully. It also highlights Smoothie King’s many delicious, nutrient-rich smoothie blends that fuel those lifestyles, including ingredients like organic kale and spinach, carrots, strawberries, mangoes, wild blueberries and raspberries.

The ordering and prep counter is to the back left, in a somewhat standard configuration where the kitchen area where drinks are made, is fully open.

There is some seating available in the unit, but I would imagine most are getting their orders to go.

They are currently open seven days a week until 9:00 PM. Monday to Friday they open at 7:00 AM and on the weekends they open a little bit later. Check the website for up-to-date hours.

Francis shared with me that the Smoothie King “Healthy Rewards” app is very popular as it features a rewards program with extra bonuses.

First, you’ll get a $2 reward just for signing up. You then earn points on every purchase, and they also have a Friday Upgrade deal, where customers using the ap will a free upgrade from 20oz to 32oz smoothies.

Look for the app in your smart phones app store comma or check it out at the website.

I’ve never visited a Smooth King so I asked Francis for a drink recommendation. He suggested their signature smoothie “Angle Food” which was also the first recipe created back in 1989 when the brand started!

The Angel Food smoothie includes strawberries, bananas, nonfat milk, and turbinado.

“Turbinado”? According to the website TheDoughnutHole, turbinado is a type of unrefined sugar that adds some sweetness to your favorite smoothie and also helps make for a smoother… smoothie!

And my Angle Food smoothie? As you would expect… it was incredibly delicious and fresh.

The Menu

As the name implies Smoothie King makes… Smoothies!

They offer DOZENS of smoothie varieties, and they are a company that sticks with their original charter… they seem to only sell smoothies.

(Well, we found evidence online that Smoothie-King is trialing fruit bowls, which feature fresh fruit and other tasty ingredients in a bowl.  Other sources indicate New Jersey may see fruit bowls added this year)

While they are all about smoothies, their online menu lists an impressive 91 varieties based on flavors and styles. Many of the styles fit their “Rule The Day” theme.
