Royal Cardz is your one stop collectible card shop for Sports, TCG Trading Card Games (Pokemon), Card Supplies as well as Party Balloons… and they opened last weekend in Washington Township’s Shoppers Lane Plaza next to Kohl’s.
This new store comes from local owners Joe and Kelly, who for 26 years operated the beloved Royal Bargains Dollar Store… which closed last week!

42Freeway first wrote about this change of business model for the family back in November.
A variety of things came together to drive this big change-up. Well first, collectible cards has been a huge part of Joe’s life since he was kid. Secondly, collectible cards has been a successful part of the Royal Bargain store for years… and lastly, as he’s gotten older, like many of us Joe reached the point where he just wanted to simplify life a bit. Or maybe a lot!

So adding in the very popular party balloon business (balloons opens Monday Feb 3rd) , Joe and Kelly now have Royal Cardz.
Now I don’t consider myself a collectible card expert at all, but from what I can see this new Royal Cardz unit is definitely on the larger size for the local marketplace and they’ve done a great job filling the space with a cornucopia of collectibles and more!

I actually stopped in last week for Opening Day and was happily surprised to see how well they filled the entire space… card display areas on either side wall, and multiple tables within the center open area.
A lounge space with television is in the back left, card supplies and related materials in the front right… and then a dedicated section in the back corner for the party balloon business.

With the deadline to move out of the Royal Bargain space looming and requiring a lot of effort to clear out the large retail unit, Joe mentioned that Royal Cardz was considered a “Soft Opening” as they fully get things ready. One key aspect was that as of last weekend they did not have setup was the party balloon business.
That being said, February 15th is the Official Grand Opening celebration featuring a Philly legend… John Runyon who spent most of the 2000s as a star offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles!

And don’t be confused by all of this sports commentary here… Royal Cardz is also huge in TCG trading card games, particularly collectible Pokémon cards.
For their first day opening last week huge number of fans not only showed up but waited in a long line outside just to get in!
There is a new Facebook page for Royal Cardz but it seems at least for now they are sticking with the original Royal Bargain’s page and it’s 10,000 followers… Well be sure to follow both pages.
Moving into the former dollar store is Monster Golf. Details here.

After 26 Wonderful Years, Royal Bargains Has Come to an End
This past weekend marked the final chapter of Royal Bargains, and I find myself reflecting with a heart full of gratitude. These past 26 years have been an incredible journey—one filled with so many memories, friendships, and an overwhelming sense of community.
The outpouring of love and support from our customers has been nothing short of amazing. While we always knew Royal Bargains was special, we could have never imagined just how deeply it touched so many lives. Hearing your stories, your kind words, and seeing the tidal wave of customers who came through our doors one last time was truly humbling. You weren’t just shoppers—you became family.
To our incredible employees, past and present, thank you. The messages, visits, and memories you’ve shared mean the world to us. Royal Bargains wouldn’t have been what it was without your dedication and hard work. It fills my heart to know that working here made a positive impact on so many of you.
As we say goodbye, I ask one thing of all of you—please continue to support small businesses whenever and however you can. They are the heart and soul of our communities, and they thrive because of people like you.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for 26 amazing years. Our family will forever be grateful.
With love and gratitude,
Joe & Kelly
