Plans for a new Popeyes Chicken restaurant for the Black Horse Pike are scheduled to be heard by the Runnemede Planning/Zoning Board on November 30th at 7pm
The specific location for the proposed fast food eatery is at the corner of N Black Horse Pike and 8th Ave. Currently an empty lot, years ago it was home to bar restaurants Merry-Go-Round and Chicago’s.
The will be adjacent to the CVS parking lot, but the lots will not connect.

Popeyes Chicken Runnemede Site Plan
Ahead of the upcoming meeting, Runnemede has made available the site plans for the project at their Planning/Zoning website.
It’s not a large property but with a smaller 1,990 sf building design they still plan on having a two-lane drive thru supporting 10 cars stacked and 16 parking spaces.
There will be a dual-direction entrance on 8th ave, and off the Black Horse Pike they split the entrance/exit into two.. an entrance only close to the corner, and an exit only closer to the CVS side (which is better positioned for Drive-thru cars to exit).
The applicant’s materials do not share the store interior layout. I am really just curious to understand how much seating the restaurant will support.
Popeye’s Louisiana Chicken
Popeyes is a popular and growing chicken fast-food restaurant, with over 3,500 restaurants in 46 states and 30 countries.
While the featured item had always been their version of classic fried chicken, back in 2019 they introduced a new chicken sandwich which caught everyone off guard; from the public, to Popeyes management… and all the way through the fast-food industry.
The sandwich went viral, a catapulted Popeyes to record sales growth!
