Poke Sewell has opened on Egg Harbor Road in Washington Township, at the intersection of Hurffville Grenloch Rd (attached to Dunkin).
We stopped in yesterday to check the place out and was surprised to see this was a full teardown and remodel, as well as they are also offering Ramen noodles and Asian Milk teas!
Poke is a Hawaiian dish similar to sushi but typically served in a bowl where more fresh vegetables and rice can be added. Variations now also include grilled chicken and cooked shrimp.
Ramen noodles and “Boba” bubble tea area also very hot items right now, and they have incorporated all three into one new restaurant! While they may not have the same number of options as locations focused on each individual category, it’s nice to have all the choices in one location.
All New Interior Construction. Bright and Modern
42Freeway first reported on Poke Sewell back in April when the signage went up but we’ve had few details on the new Washington Township eatery.
Readers have been asking regularly on the status as it felt like there was a long delay since the signage appeared.
After visiting I can understand why. As mentioned they completely rebuilt the space from it’s prior life as a pizza shop.
Poke Sewell is a modern white and light-grey décor which really brightens the space up. Factor in that the shape of their space allows for a lot of windows into the restaurant, it makes for a very inviting atmosphere.
The address is 300 Egg Harbor Rd #2, Sewell, NJ 08080
As a point of reference, as mentioned they share a building with Dunkin. In the immediate area of the intersection are CVS, Rita’s, Township Bagel Cafe and Dollar Tree (to name a few). This location was previously Pizza Tower who moved over to Mantua.
The are open Mon-Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Poke at Poke Sewell – What’s It All About?
It’s in the name! Ha!
As mentioned Poke Sewell’s featured item is Poke.
If you like sushi it’s almost a guarantee you would be a fan of poke.
The dish originated in Hawaii back in the 1970s, where they skinned, deboned and filled raw fish, added in Hawaiian salt and other items local to Hawaii.
As it spread across the US, a popular “modern” version was developed that used a bed of rice in a bowl, with a variety of ingredients grouped around the bowl for you to mix and eat.
Ingredient variations can include avocado, ponzu sauce, teriyaki sauce, mushrooms, onions, sriracha, pineapple, cucumber and more! And of course fish and other proteins including cooked shrimp, grilled chicken, marinated tuna… and even all vegetarian.
It took almost 40 years before poke started spreading across the mainland United States and I feel it’s only been a couple years since it has started to enter the vocabulary of Southern New Jersey.
While I did stop in to the restaurant I didn’t have time to try any of their poke dishes.
The pricing for the Poke and Ramen dishes are in the $12-13 dollar range.
The Poke Sewell menu lists a variety of options including the following. And of course you can mix things up!
