Plato Bueno is a Latino Soul Food restaurant in Glassboro, owned by a Gloucester County family who located their new eatery on Main Street just one block over from Angelo’s Diner.
I was on hand last week when Plato Bueno held their official ribbon cutting ceremony, but the restaurant has been open for a bit as evidenced by Glassboro Mayor John Wallace’s comments that he is a regular customer of the new locally owned restaurant!
With many friends, family, and elected officials on hand it was a busy morning but I did have a chance to speak with restaurant owner Daira Jackson, who with her father Gustavo as chef and the support of her husband (former Eagles player) Jamaal… they are excited to bring their delicious flavors to the Glassboro and Rowan community!

Located in a free-standing brick building which most recently was a pizza shop, the family has remodeled Plato Bueno into a beautiful open kitchen and dining space where the front windows allow the sunshine in, connecting the restaurant with the Rowan University community and Glassboro.
While their slogan says they are “Latin Flavors To Go”, the open-concept eatery does offer several tables in the back for dine-in customers.
The menu offers a variety of entree platters (chicken, steak, pork and more), appetizers, seafood dishes and of course a delicious Cubano sandwich!
Options range from boneless fried chicken, to delicious pepper steak, or how about a “slow cooked shredded beef in tomato sauce and vegetables” dish which sounds absolutely amazing!
The innovative and flavorful menu also offers dessert and family combos, plus on Saturdays they have a breakfast menu featuring fried eggs, grilled Dominican salami, mashed green plantains and more.
They also offer many daily specials which they update on the in-restaurant chalkboard. You can follow along at Facebook or Instagram for updates, or call ahead to see “what’s cooking”.
Hmmm… looking at the menu now I see they also have a “chop cheese” which is a New York version of our Philly cheese steak… made with ground beef instead of sliced steak. I may have to stop back soon to give that a try!
Parking is available just a few feet away around the corner on College Ave, which offers street parking as well as a parking lot.
