The very popular Nothing Bundt Cakes retail bakery is expanding in South Jersey with a location coming soon to Deptford NJ.
Nothing Bundt Cakes offers delicious bundt cakes in a variety of sizes which are perfect for larger parties, single serving sizes, and even a bite-sized mini bundt cake. Known for their deliciously moist cakes, the freshness is ensured by having every location be a full bakery… making fresh cakes within the store every day.
And if you are unfamiliar with bundt cakes, they are baked in a special circular pan that creates a cake with a center hole somewhat like a large donut.
Their first Gloucester County NJ location for Nothing Bundt Cakes will be located in the Court At Deptford on Almonesson Road (Hobby Lobby, Olive Garden) taking over a unit which most recently was home to Jenny Craig.
This Nothing Bundt Cakes unit will be to the right of Party City and Kirkland’s, directly next to the also upcoming Mochi Tea (Mochi Tea expects to open this year).
I had heard about these plans about a month ago from 42Freeway readers and was working on confirming it. My job was made easier today when the shopping center leasing firm updated the site plan to include the bakery shop name/location.
Marilyn Johnson of South Jersey Food Scene (Web/Group) has contributed to this story as she has gotten to know the owners of this upcoming location, husband and wife Steve and Jessica in covering their other locations in Cherry Hill and Mt Laurel. The Deptford location is hoped to be open by the end of the year, but is more likely to open in early 2025.
Nothing Bundt Cakes
For those that have never tried Nothing Bundt Cakes, it may seem like a unique concept “It’s just bundt cakes? Like what Grandma used to make?”
But the bakery brand has found a very solid and loyal following by offering a variety of deliciously inventive flavors which are available in three sizes ranging from a full-sized bundt cakes, to a Bundtlet single serving which is similar to a cupcake, and an even smaller Bundtinis which is a bite size morsel similar to a donut hole treat.
The creative flavor options and smart sizing allows them to be your choice for a larger cake to celebrate an event or birthday, a single serving size perfect to bring a selection to the office to share with coworkers, and the bitesize options are great for the quick snack or for the young kids.
And every one of the over 600 locations is a full bakery within the store, so you are getting freshly made and delicious baked goods every single day! Plus customers rave about the moistness of the cakes which keep very well in the refrigerator.
With so many chain bakeries and donut shops making their products in central large bakery warehouses, the freshness, quality and variety of Nothing Bundt Cakes has really connected with their customers.
Realizing that a good percentage of their customer purchases are to celebrate something or just a fun event, each of the bakery stores offer a wide selection of retail items including party supplies, decor and gifts… which makes Nothing Bundt Cakes the perfect one-stop celebration shop
In South Jersey they currently have locations in Cherry Hill, Marlton and Mount Laurel.
Nothing Bundt Cakes was originally founded in Las Vegas back in 1997 by Deena Tripp and Debbie Schwetz who were two neighborhood friends that liked to bake.
One day Debbie baked a bundt cake and brought it to her friend Debbie’s house, and Debbie asked why she hadn’t used her cream cheese and butter frosting… which led into a conversation about how it seemed difficult to frost a bundt cake!
That fun conversation lead into a variety of different bundt cake ideas, and the next year the first Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery opened in Las Vegas.
Ther initial flavors included cinnamon swirl, chocolate chocolate chip and pecan praline.
The bakery was an instant local success and 10 years later they began franchising. Just this summer they celebrated the opening of their 600th location.
Even today every cake is baked with only the highest quality ingredients; real eggs, fresh butter, and real cream cheese for example. While the dry ingredients are shipped from the main office, all of the dairy and eggs are purchased locally for freshness.
The menu flavors is broken out to several categories including timeless flavors, decadent, refreshing, festive and yes they do offer gluten free takes in two varieties.
And throughout the year they will offer pop-up flavors which for the fall season through the end of this month is caramel apple cider… a spice cake baked with apple cider, rolled in cinnamon sugar and filled with caramel sauce.
And all these years later their very first signature flavor “chocolate chocolate chip” is still their best selling bundt cake!
