The KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot restaurant for Deptford NJ is still coming, looking for an early Spring 2025 opening.
The location for the new restaurant is in the Court of Deptford shopping center on Almonesson Road where Hobby Lobby, Burlington, Red Lobster and Olive Garden are located.
KPOT is taking over the right-end unit which was originally a Pier One retail store.
I have to be honest it’s not like I have the deep level contact with the KPOT organization… this update comes from reaching out to their customer service team on social media.
I first broke the news on the restaurant back in July of 2023 and admittedly it has taken a bit of time to get to the opening point, which will be almost two years since that first published report.
I’ve gotten many questions from readers about why it’s taking so long (and see several Facebook town group questions about the restaurant) and I haven’t been able to get a solid answer from KPOT or shopping center management… although I’ve heard very unofficially that the delays are related to equipment availability.
For the Deptford location the windows of the restaurant are covered, but large sections of the front are open now. I peaked in and can see that significant interior development has taken place already. Booths are onsite, a logoed KPOT wall sign is hanging and in the back a stylized sign “Korean BBQ & Hot Pot” is on the wall.

If you’re unfamiliar with KPOT.., they are a fast growing Korean BBQ brand with 160+ locations opened or planned… in 38 different states!
Korean BBQ is a deliciously fun dining experience where each table is outfitted with a center hotplate, and guests get to cook their own meal!
I had previously visited a location in South Philadelphia where wait staff offered a picture menu of dozens of ingredients including varieties of steak, chicken, seafood, vegetables and more… You place your order with the staff and they would bring the fresh uncooked items to your table, where you and your dining guests cook them in the center hot plate.
A sauce bar then offered a variety of different flavors to add to your meal.
And while your food at KPot is provided by a server, it is all you can eat… just keep asking for more until everyone is full!
A few folks like to call out that “I’m paying to do the work!” but eating at a Korean BBQ restaurant is as much about the experience as it is the delicious food.
With you and friends sitting around that center hot plate and everyone taking turns cooking and creating their own recipe… it absolutely creates an interactive experience for everyone where conversations and laughter are bound to be created.
The “hot pot” aspect of KPOT is a similar cook-at-the-table experience but instead of the center hot plate, you get to cook your food in a hot broth which is positioned at the corners of the tables.
The Deptford location will not have a liquor license, but if you are interested in experiencing KPOT ahead of their Gloucester County opening.. the South Philly location is easy to access from the Walt Whitman bridge and also features a full bar.
