JoJo’s Steaks & Pizza Coming to “Old” Blackwood… With Water Ice and Ice Cream Too

JoJo’s Steaks & Pizza Coming to “Old” Blackwood… With Water Ice and Ice Cream Too
Reading Time: 3 minutes

JoJo’s Steaks and Pizza is coming to the Old Blackwood section of Gloucester Township on the Black Horse Pike, directly across from the recently opened Ren’s Coffeehouse & Books.

At the corner of Black Horse Pike and Church Street is the large cemetery, and the first building on the Black Horse Pike is the new home for JoJo’s.

The recently remodeled multi-tenant building appears to support 3 retail tenants, and JoJo’s Steaks and Pizza is likely the first new tenant, based on their “Coming Soon” banner.

This is the second location for JoJo’s.  Their first location opened earlier this year on Aramingo Ave in Philadelphia, offering a large variety of items from that wedge-shaped location, including water ice and ice cream!

We are from South Philly just branching out. We have family in South Jersey and wanted to bring our South Philly flavors to Jersey.

JoJo’s Steaks & Pizza is open on Aramingo Ave Philadelphia, and soon crossing the bridge into Blackwood NJ.

For the upcoming Blackwood location, it’s nice to see some positive attention from business owners, as for many years it seemed to have been a bit forgotten.  The recent opening of Ren’s Coffeehouse has definitely helped stir things up as I stopped in on a mid-afternoon Tuesday and Ren had about 15 people in her store!

With JoJo’s opening later this year maybe we will soon see a return of even more smaller, locally owned stores to Historic Blackwood!

Being the selfless investigative journalist that I am (ha!), yesterday I headed over to Philly to see what JoJo’s was all about.

As mentioned, I was happily surprised to see that the JoJo’s menu extends beyond their awesome steaks and delicious pizza, also offering water ice and ice cream. The menu also had categories for burgers, sausage (sandwiches), calzone, stromboli, and about a dozen appetizers including wings.

With “Steaks & Pizza” in the name I knew my choice had to be one of those two, and since I had just had pizza the prior day I went with a cheese steak… 8oz ribeye, Cooper Sharp cheese and light fried onions.

It was a legit sandwich!

JoJo’s Cheesesteak – 8oz Ribeye, Cooper Sharp Cheese, Light Fried Onions.. Heaven

The menu says it’s a full 8 ounce steak and I’m not gonna argue that because I felt my roll was completely filled with perfectly cooked sliced rib eye, fried onions and Cooper sharp cheese.

Tender steak, a fresh roll and the perfect blend of cheese and onions. I was also a big fan of the “chop” that left the steak as tender pieces of meat and not ground up into a pulp!

Just look at the picture here… I took that photo!

Don’t hate on me too much because I forgot to ask where the rolls are from.    I ate half of my cheesesteak sitting outside the shop and then wrapped up the other half and brought it home to my wife… whoalso said it was an excellent sandwich.

I was told by a family member who was working the Philadelphia location yesterday that yes the menu including ice cream and water ice is coming to Jersey but a big focus for JoJo’s will be on roast pork and roast beef… bringing the South Philly flavors to South Jersey!

I didn’t get to meet the owner but we have been chatting via social media, and he tells me his goal is to open the Blackwood location later this year.
