Earlier this month Inspira Health Center has opened their all-new 2 story Woodbury Pavilion on a property directly next to the old “Underwood” hospital, featuring a 25,000sf Satellite Emergency Department on the 1st floor, and an 18,500 square foot Inpatient Behavioral Health program on the second floor.
A second single floor building at the rear of the block long property features a new EMS building with garages for emergency vehicles.
Inspira Health unveiled the new Woodbury Pavilion building back in July with a formal ceremony featuring Inspira Personnel and elected officials, but it wasn’t until earlier this month that the two-units opened to patients… which for area residents is likely the more impactful announcement!
Don’t fret about the new location of the Emergency Room because the Inspira Woodbury Pavilion ER entrance is literally across the street from the former Emergency Department location. For example, when turning off of Broad Street, you then turn right into the new parking lot (instead of left).
42Freeway first wrote about plans for this new Woodbury Pavilion back in February of 2022.
Inspira states… The new satellite emergency department includes 20 private treatment rooms, which are larger than those in the prior Woodbury Emergency Department. Additionally, four rooms are specially designed to create a safe and calming environment for patients in crisis. The new Emergency Department features comfortable furniture with built-in charging stations, hydration stations and large-screen TVs in each room.
For the new inpatient behavioral health center, Inspira states it offers 20, first-of-its-kind in the region, private rooms; enhancing privacy and safety. The unit is significantly larger than the existing one on the Woodbury campus and incorporates an open floor plan design and furnishings that promote safety and well-being. Special features include sensory/quiet rooms that have full wall murals, rocking chairs and additional features to assist with mood regulation. An exercise room, open-air basketball court and garden space will be used for recreation and therapy.
The $72 million Woodbury project stems from the relocation of the main hospital functions to the all-new Mullica Hill Hospital which opened almost five years ago.
As part of the approval for the Mullica Hill hospital, it was agreed that Inspira would maintain in Woodbury the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit. Inspira has also developed the new EMS facility.
It wasn’t a requirement to build a new building for those two patient units, but with most of the old Woodbury Hospital building unused it made sense for Inspira to relocate the two units out of the main old hospital building… freeing it up so that the building/property was freed-up for future redevelopment purposes.
It’s been a very busy year for the rapidly growing and Inspira health system.
Back in April, Inspira also held the grand opening for their 80,000 square foot Inspira Health Center in Deptford NJ. Located on ominous in Rd. The modern and beautiful two story building is a rebuild of a former retail store.
Inspira Deptford provides a full medical offering including Primary Care, Cardiac Care, OBGYN, Sports Rehab, Medical Imaging, Orthopedics and more! An Ambulatory Surgery Center is also under consideration for the space.
And two weeks ago Inspira held the groundbreaking for a $240 million expansion of their Mullica Hill Hospital! Yes the brand new hospital that I don’t even think is five years old is already seeing a significant expansion!
