It was only October when I wrote about the Inspira Groundbreaking Ceremony for the large expansion at their Mullica Hill Medical Center… and already this week Inspira held the “topping off” ceremony for the final piece of steel of the 150,000 square foot, five-story expansion wing.
The celebration included a variety of Inspira Health System Executives and Board members, additional staff, numerous Elected Officials and construction team members… dozens of whom signed the last piece of steel which was then hoisted into place at the top of the building.

“We are thrilled to reach this pivotal point in this project and exceptionally grateful to those who have helped with its construction. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to meeting the ever-evolving needs of South Jersey communities and reducing access disparities to top-notch medical care.”
Amy B. Mansue, President and CEO of Inspira Health.
The full construction effort also includes an “overbuild” addition to the front of the hospital adjacent to the main entrance which brings the total new space to 168,000sf. There will also be renovations of several existing spaces as well as additional parking created.
The new hospital additions and renovations will allow Inspira to expand and enhance services such as Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology, Maternity Care and more.

The pace and progress of the new development is impressive! It seems most times my 42Freeway readers are wondering why things take so long… yet here is Inspira building this massive expansion faster than a much smaller convenience store can be approved and developed!

A follow-up press release from Inspira states that they are also contributing significantly to the local socio-economic landscape through the $240 million investment… The project is expected to create 500 construction jobs and more than 100 new permanent positions when completed
Things are moving fast and they expect the new wing to be operational in the first quarter of 2027.
The placing of the final steel beam for this expansion demonstrates our determination to meet the region’s ongoing demand for health care resources. The demand for services has outpaced all projections. Our average occupancy rate ranges from 87% to 93% and underscores the growing health care needs of our community. Our growing medical residency training programs also need additional space.
Warren E. Moore, FACHE, Executive Vice President and COO of Inspira Health.

The Inspira Health Organization is in the midst of an impressive growth effort at multiple locations throughout South Jersey… all with the goal of providing the best healthcare for residents.
In October Inspira celebrated the opening of the all-new construction $72 Million Woodbury Pavilion which features a new Satellite Emergency Room as well as in-patient Behavioral Health Services.

In April they held the Grand Opening for the $50 million Health Center Deptford which converted the former Dick’s Sporting Goods store to a state-of-the-art two-story medical facility.
And still to come is a full multi-use redevelopment of the former Inspira Underwood Hospital in Woodbury which has been going through a a full analysis effort for what the future project should be. (September 2023)
