Indoor Pickleball Courts and Juice Bar Business Coming to Blackwood – Pickle Juice!
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Pickle Juice is a new business concept which combines pickleball courts and a juice bar into one indoor facility, is planned to open this summer in Blackwood NJ.

The new pickleball venture is also opening a location in Ventnor (in the Acme Shopping Center) along the Jersey Shore, and they plan on opening more than 15 locations in the next three to five years.

Their facilities will feature professional “Tournament” level pickle ball courts, a Pro Shop, and a Juice Bar.

The Blackwood location is the Shoppes at Gloucester Township, which many know as the “Sam’s Bar shopping center” at the corner of Black Horse Pike and Davistown Rd.

MLG Realty has confirmed to 42Freeway that the new Pickle Juice Blackwood location will be located directly next to Sam’s Bar (FB), between the popular bar/restaurant, and the Dollar Tree.

Property owner MLG Realty has been extensively upgrading the center with new façade, improved parking lot and most recently they added a new Dollar Tree.

As mentioned the the second Pickle Juice location will be in Ventnor, at the Ventnor Plaza. MLG Realty recently purchased that Jersey Shore center where Acme is located, and have been remodeling that center also (Press of Atlantic City)

This news was reported yesterday by several news outlets based off of a press release, and it seems a few had a chance to speak to owner Lisa Brody. If you wanna check out their coverage you can find that at; Patch, What Now Philly, NJBiz

But keep scrolling and reading for more from 42Freeway. Of course 42Freeway will be covering this story through development and opening.

I actually have pickleball rackets somewhere in the house but have never played! doh!

Pickle Juice Blackwood

Co-owner and Founder of Pickle Juice, Lisa Brody, has been an avid Pickleball player for more than five years. With the uptick on this discovery of the sport, opening a facility that supported this passion of
hers seemed like an appropriate next best step.

“Almost every day for five years, I’d say to my husband – I’m going to go play Pickle and grab a juice,” recalls Brody. “And then I thought… that’s a great name and concept to open up some courts with a juice bar!

The new Blackwood location comes in at almost 14,000 square feet and we’ll feature four indoor courts. The Ventnor heights location will be slightly larger at 17,000 sq feet and have 5 courts

The innovative name “Pickle Juice” calls out both the pickleball court aspect as well as a fresh juice bar.

Pickle Juice is already working on the properties and they plan to open this summer!

The press release photos show a very modern and comfortable design for the facilities, with front counter space, pro shop and juice bar… and of course the large open pickleball courts area.

While the courts will be Tournament level quality, the goal with the facilities is to support all levels of pickleball players from beginners, to junior play, and accomplished players.

They will offer open play where you can rent a court for you and your friends, as well as clinics to learn about the game and how to improve your play, and even organized tournaments.

And for those really looking to learn and improve their game they will offer private and group lessons.

Of course we can’t forget the juice bar offering the freshest nutritional juices with seasonal fresh fruit and ingredients.

Pickleball

If you are unfamiliar with pickleball, it is a cross between tennis and badminton… and maybe even a little bit of ping pong.

It is played on a smaller court then tennis, and seems it’s initial popularity grew with the older population who wanted to get out and play active sports and appreciated the smaller sized court of pickleball.

Pickleball has grown significantly and today it is enjoyed by everyone.

Communities in South Jersey have been listening to the resident’s request to add pickleball courts.

Deptford has had community courts for about two years now, and I understand Gloucester Township is also adding them.

Of course it’s awesome to have these free community locations to use, but of course they are outside in the elements and can become challenging to use in parts of the year in extremely cold or hot weather.

The huge benefit of the new pickle juice concept is that it is in a climate controlled space and will offer players the option to play 12 months a year!

Other commercial entities are entering the Philadelphia area as I see over in Malvern PA a large indoor pickleball facility is also being developed.
