Glassboro is Next In Line for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

Glassboro is Next In Line for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers
Reading Time: 4 minutes

A Raising Cane’s Chicken Finger restaurant is in the works for Glassboro’s Delsea Drive commercial corridor.

The location is a former Rite-Aid store at the corner of Delsea Drive & Donald Barger Blvd. The corner property is directly next to a Wendy’s fast food restaurant.

On the other side of this former Rite-Aid property (across the street) is the large Collegetown shopping center.

Raising Cane’s is fast food restaurant specializing in freshly cooked chicken fingers and their top-secret receipe “Cane’s Sauce”.

This would be the third planned Raising Cane’s chicken finger restaurant for Gloucester County, with other locations in the works for Deptford and Washington Township.

Additional South Jersey Raising Canes locations were also approved for Cherry Hill, Marlton and Burlington Township.

While none of these suburban South Jersey locations have been developed, the company is clearly setting the stage for a large development effort in the area.

As is the case with all of the suburban South Jersey stores they are planning, this would be an all new construction.

For the Glassboro location this would mean the Rite Aid building will first have to be demolished.

Similarly, the Deptford location will first need to have the Don Pablos restaurant building demolished, and in Washington Township a former Pep Boys store and auto center will need to be removed.

42Freeway first heard about this Glassboro location several months ago from one of our loyal readers, but I sat back and waited on posting until I could find concrete evidence on the plans.

Well, that solid information came from tracking down a lease document between Raising Canes and the property owner.

Keep in mind that news of this planned Glassboro location is very early in the process.

As of today they have not appeared before the town planning board, and in fact searching the Glassboro website and meeting minutes, there’s literally no mention of this eatery coming to town… so it could be a bit before we see movement on this project.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

If you aren’t familiar, Raising Cane’s is a chicken finger fast food restaurant with a cult-like following. Crazy popular in other parts of the country, but newer to the Philadelphia metro area and mostly unknown in these parts. For now.

Probably by sometime next year we’re all going to be very familiar with Raising Cane’s and their signature Cane’s Sauce as the South Jersey stores start getting developed and open.

Raising Cane’s and their signature Cane’s Sauce is looking to make a big cluck in South Jersey

They do have a few locations opened in Philadelphia and I visited one last year, which is where some of the images in this post are from.

In other parts of the country they are to chicken fingers, what In-And-Out is to burgers!

Customers love their chicken fingers and signature dipping sauce so much they have called themselves “Caniacs”.

Long after the grand openings of new stores, there can still be long lines of customers willing to wait for their food!

You can read more about my visit to a Philadelphia post in this article which I visited as part of my coverage on the planned Cherry Hill location.

As mentioned they are making a big push into the Philadelphia metro area and South Jersey.

Last year we broke the news on the plans for a Deptford location at the former Don Pablos location near the mall (It since has been approved).

And it was just last month when we announced they had found a location in Washington Township on the Black Horse Pike. Incidentally the Glassboro and Washington Township stores will be 5 miles apart.
