A new Five Below store has been under construction the last few months in the Berlin Circle Plaza off of Rt 73 in West Berlin, NJ.
Five Below is a fun store for kids and families featuring items under $5… with a few selections at a higher price. There are over 50 in New Jersey so I think everyone is already aware of the store and concept?!
It’s a store you can visit regularly and find something new each time. Rarely can you just make it a quick trip and you always leave with more than you intended!
While signage at the Berlin Circle Plaza site simply says “Coming Soon : Winter 2022”, the opening date is not clear yet, and based on observations I wonder if they open before Christmas day arrives.
That being said they do have some positions listed online, such as Sales Associate and Support Lead.
Berlin Circle Plaza has had an awesome series of new store signings and openings recently. A new Burlington Store recently opened, a Marshall’s store is open, and an expand Zallie’s ShopRite liquor store opened.
Kudos to the Berlin Circle Plaza team and their commercial agents Metro for taking a challenging retail environment and just hitting multiple home runs.
Retail is a tough market all over and major well known brands are struggling. For the Berlin Circle Plaza team they took a bad situation of losing Rite-Aid, Staples and Modell’s and replaced them with Five Below, Marshall’s and Burlington stores! Really amazing work!
Also in the area a little further down Rt 73, a Tractor Supply store opened last week, and the Victory Bar & Grill opened a new large expansion not too long ago!
Things are Booming in the area of the Berlins!

The Five Below store location in the shopping center is on the same side as ShopRite, directly between Nurture Pet and H&R Block. Previously it was a Rite-Aid store.
I visited two weeks agon on November 11th, so construction progress undoubtedly has progressed further along but the imagery should still hold up.
The new Five Below lease signing required the shopping center to develop a new raised rectangular overhead entrance façade (which is a very similar process to what happened for the new Burlington Store). The taller front entrance gives excellent visibility within the center to shoppers.
At the time of my visit the tell-tale blue frame was in place for the store signage, awaiting the Five Below lettering to be installed.
Inside beyond the green covered construction fencing, workers were busy developing the store interior. But at the time the front wall and window elements were not completed… no glass in the windows!
The Five Below company has a banner on that fencing announcing the store is coming, and they are accepting job applications!
Five Below : The Experience
Five Below is a Philadelphia “born and bred” discount retailer, focusing on kid’s items all priced at under $5. Well most under $5. They have branched out a bit.
The stores are whimsical and fun with attractive lighting, signage and displays. Add in the colorful product selection, its makes for a very whimsical shopping experience.
They recently opened a new store in Glassboro NJ, and I’d imagine that the store size and layout would be similar, featuring kids toys, gifts and a large candy section.
While many traditional store retailers are feeling the pain of competing with internet shopping, it seems Five Below stores are thriving!
“Many retailers are closing stores. Five Below Inc. can’t seem to open themSuzanne Kapner of The Wall Street Journal
I located two open job roles for the upcoming West Berlin store. But check regularly for additional opportunities.
