A Dollar Tree store on Blackwood-Clementon Road is relocating, moving from the Cherrywood Shopping Center to the free-standing former Rite Aid building a short distance East (at Cherrywood Drive)… between Wawa and Filomena’s.
The Cherrywood Shopping Center is currently seeing significant construction take place as workers develop a new ShopRite supermarket. Dollar Tree is located in that same core shopping center section directly next to where ShopRite is going in.

I’ve visited the Cherrywood Dollar Tree store a few times recently and always found the employees to be incredibly happy and helpful, but the store itself is basically worn out, small and not properly lighted… simply the location was long overdue for an upgrade or relocation.
In February 2024… 42Freeway wrote about the closing of the nearby Rite Aid pharmacy store which is just about 1/3 of a mile away on the exact same Blackwood-Clementon Rd. That building was used last fall for a seasonal Spirit Halloween store but remains empty today.

It seems the pharmacy building and location grabbed the attention of the regional Dollar Tree management team who made the decision to relocate their store out of the Cherrywood Shopping Center… and over to the free-standing building.
When opened, the new location for Dollar Tree is significantly larger at 11,400sf and is much closer to the roadway, giving better store visibility for commuters driving by on Blackwood-Clementon Road.
With the larger size building it makes me wonder if this new location will be branded as a Dollar Tree Plus store.
Dollar Tree very recently spun off the Family Dollar chain of stores and in some locations such as Sicklerville, they are moving towards larger sized stores called Dollar Tree Plus which feature the traditional Dollar Tree $1.25 merchandise but also has a broader selection of more expensive family and household items.

Contractors have been on site of the former Rite Aid Pharmacy for several days and already the exterior diamond window trim has been painted the signature Dollar Tree green shade.
Unofficially we are hearing from area Dollar Tree store employees that the new store location will be ready around the end of summer/August.
As of February Dollar Tree listed themselves as a Fortune 200 company operating 16,500 stores across 48 States and five Canadian provinces.

That store count included 8000 Family Dollar stores which have been sold 2 private equity groups… so likely the Dollar Tree store count is now under 10,000.
Even with risk of tariff impacts related to China being one of its core supplier countries, as well as the sell off of Family Dollar… Dollar Tree is currently trading at its Year To Date high of 83.95 (May 5th, 2025).
