Dollar General Proposed For Deptford/Westville on Route 47

Dollar General Proposed For Deptford/Westville on Route 47
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Dollar General continues their South Jersey expansion with a proposal to develop a new free-standing store on Route 47 in Deptford NJ, close to Westville and the 295 exit. The land is currently an undeveloped lot next to the convenience store that was a 7-11, and in front of the Chestnut Lane Apartments.

The Victory in Christ Christian center is across the street from where the new Dollar General is planned.

We listed the title as “Deptford/Westville” because I think many consider this area to be Westville, but it is actually Deptford. Deptford stretches out far and wide!

The project is scheduled to be presented in front of the Deptford Planning Board on November 3rd at 6pm.

Dollar General Proposed for Deptford’s Rt 47

The proposal calls for the construction of a new 10,640 square foot retail store, which seems to be a common footprint now for their stores in our area.

The Dollar General’s developed for Washington Township (recently opened) and Runnemede are the same 10,640 sq ft and we would imagine this is a carbon copy.

It appears to be a good strategic location for Dollar General.

If you look at their locations on a map, there is a circle of stores in the densely populated suburban communities around Westville, Brooklawn and Bellmawr’s Crescent Park area… but the nothing in the center.

This location will also offer easy access to Rt 295, and Inverness and Chestnut Lane apartments are close by.

Not much for me to add regarding Dollar General other than sales and growth continues to be very strong with the Company. While people seem to complain about them “Is this the best we can get?”… it appears a LOT of people shop there based on sales growth and profitability.
