The Winslow Township Zoning Board of Adjustment has approved the construction of a new 10,640 sq ft Dollar General store on Route 73 to the right of the Cedar Brook Plaza.
Having approval from the Township is a key win for the developers but there may be other pending approvals necessary such as the Pinelands Commission or the NJDOT.
We are not clear on the status of any additional needed approvals at this time.

Dollar General Winslow Rt 73
The property for the new Dollar General is directly to the right of the Briglia’s Tavern building (facing the building). The proposed location is currently undeveloped with a few trees.
The Dollar General property has frontage on Rt 73 of 250 feet, and stops at a residential home property (which will remain).
The site plan shows that while the new development will be very close to the Cedar Brook Plaza, the parking lots will not connect.
The Dollar General will have one new entrance from Rt 73, positioned on the left side of the property. We estimate the driveway to be about 150 ft from the closest entrance to the Cedar Brook Plaza.
There will be 35 parking spaces to support the Dollar General, including 2 ADA parking spots at the front entrance.
The location is about 2.5 miles from another Dollar General, which is on the White Horse Pike at the other end of Pump Branch Road.
If you look at Google Maps for our area and search on Dollar General you’ll see they are building out a web of stores all 2-5 miles apart!
Dollar General is clearly trying to be everyone’s local “General Store” with a modern twist!
Briglia’s Tavern – Small Town Tavern with Big Dining Tastes
Just wanted to give a shout out to Matt and his Briglia’s Tavern.
I last posted about Briglia’s Tavern just over 2 years ago when my wife and I made our first visit. I’ve been back several times including this past weekend and they always surprise me!
Here’s what you need to know. While it’s not a big place, the food packs a big punch.
So as you would expect from a rural restaurant and bar, they have delicious burgers and wings… and a really awesome roast beef sandwich.
And if all you eat are burgers, wings and roast beet at Briglia’s you’re still doing great.
But go deeper into the menu you and enter another world of culinary experience… just something you wouldn’t expect from this little non-descript place.
And people are truly loving what Matt and the crew are putting together.
On Facebook they have 186 reviews with a 5 star rating average (out of 5). Their Yelp rating is 4.5 stars out of 5!
As you enter there is a bar with seating for about 6-8 people, as well as some high-top seating on the opposite wall.
The open kitchen is right past the bar. And then around the corner in the back is a dining room area.
Owner and chef Matt (and his staff) really push the limits of the small kitchen to put together creative dishes and sandwiches that you would expect to find in larger places situated in more densely populated areas.
In my most recent lunch visit I went with Chicken Diablo which was perfectly cooked and just the right amount heat from the long hots. I also had crab bisque soup… loaded with crab meat!
And a locally crafted beer from 13th Child brewery in Williamstown to wash it all down!
Things are constantly changing at Briglia’s Tavern. Lunch and Dinner specials change regularly.
And over on their Facebook page Matt is regularly sharing the latest innovative creations and the daily menu. In just two or three years he has over 14,000 photos posted to the page!
Just a look at their daily themed specials, you get an idea this is not your normal local rural tavern!
- Mussels Monday is an all-you-can-eat mussel special.
- Taco Tuesday offers a varying Taco or Quesadilla of the week
- Wednesday features Steak! Chef’s special choice steak dinner
- Buck-A-Shuck Thursday offers $1 each raw oysters and clams. Specials on shrimp cocktails and wine specials!
- Crabby Friday offers one pound of seasonal crabs served over linguini
- Surf & Turf Saturday is a six-ounce Filet Mignon in a port wine demi-glaze with a crab cake finished in a champagne cream sauce!
- Sunday Night is “gravy” night featuring all of your Italian favorites including an amazing Chicken Parmesan.
