Wawa has announced that the Grand Opening of their new Deptford “Super” Wawa Convenience Store and Gas Station on Clements Bridge Road is Friday October 22nd, from 8am to 12-noon!
The location of this new Wawa is 1465 Clements Bridge Road in Deptford, which is across from the TD Bank… in the area of Lowe’s and Edge Fitness, down the road from the Deptford Mall.
Despite Deptford being a retail powerhouse in South Jersey, this is the town’s first Super Wawa!
This new Super Wawa is the corner portion of a much larger many acre property, and has given them enough room to develop on a larger size property, offering plenty of room for maneuvering around the lot. This is a very classic format with the gas pumps and canopy positioned directly in front of the store, with the Store situated in the back.
Direct turn-in access from Clements Bridge road is from East direction (towards 42), and if you are traveling away from the direction of Rt 42, you must turn at the traffic light at Greenbriar Road.
This location puts Wawa in the retail district of Wawa, right around the corner from the mall. Several housing developments are also close by, as well as Nemours Pediatric Medical Center.
Wawa is on a massive new store effort with a big focus on New Jersey, with 11 stores planned to open before the end of year just in New Jersey alone! In South Jersey, in addition to Deptford they have planned Pennsauken (Connie Mac’s), Bridgeton, Mount Holly and Gibbsboro!
A Facebook event describes the Deptford Grand Opening events;

Wawa Deptford Facebook Event
We’re opening our newest store in Deptford, NJ this Friday and want you to join us for the fun! Doors open at 8:00am with limited-edition “Wawa Deptford, NJ” t-shirts for the first 100 customers through the door. At 9:00am we will have 100 pink Wawa shirts for customers in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Stick around for an outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00am including our signature Hoagies for Heroes competition and an appearance by mascot Wally Goose.
We do know that this location does NOT have a drive-thru, but we haven’t been in the store to see what new features they are offering Deptford area shoppers.
We have been following the planned projects in this area for years, as well as the Wawa.
At the other end of the previously undeveloped acreage was a planned Movie Theater, and between them and the Wawa an Inspira Health building was to be developed.
42Freeway recently posted that Inspira has instead chosen to refurbish the old Dick’s Sporting Goods building on Almonesson Road.
And while we still hear rumblings the Movie Theater project is still something the developer wants to do, we haven’t heard much from it lately. They last surfaced in August 2019 for an approval update from the Deptford Planning Board.
And because I know people are wondering, the planned Wawa at 5-Points in Washington Township still sits stalled. That Wawa was approved by Washington Township, and it appears that the delays have been around a defined road access plan.
