Creative Furniture Galleries will be opening their first South Jersey location at the former La-Z-Boy building on the Black Horse Pike in Washington Township! We visited the site this week, and interior remodeling is well under way!
The Creative Furniture store is just 300 feet from where the upcoming Fat Jack’s BBQ will be taking over the former Pizza Hut building. Both new tenants will be located on opposite sides of Applebee’s.
A nice double win for Washington Township, as empty retail stores continue to fill up with tenants!
Creative Furniture Galleries
Creative Furniture was established in 1994, and is one of the fastest growing furniture manufacturers and distributors in the Northeast.
They currently have stores in Plainfield, Paramus, and Fairfield… and from what we see, Washington Township will be their first location in South Jersey!
The Creative Furniture website also describes how they started, and the core concept around their product offerings:
Our founder is an industry veteran who was stunned when he tried to purchase furniture for his own home from another furniture distributor and was treated poorly by their sales associates. It was then that he decided he needed to create a new kind of furniture store, one that carries only the top European brands and focuses on personal attention while providing superior customer service.
Quickly browsing their online catalog, it is clear to see they target a higher-end product for the more affluent market.
We aren’t 100% clear on the product mix for the new Washington Township store, so it is only an assumption that they would follow the same mix of products in Gloucester County.
A Premier retailer for a Premier community!
Washington Township Location
We visited the Washington Township location last Sunday.
As mentioned, this was previously the La-Z-Boy store, located at 3750 Route 42, Turnersville, NJ.
The building is free-standing, and sits next to Applebee’s and is directly across from Holman Ford.
Looking into the windows we could see that significant interior wall construction has started.
Instead of a wide open space, it seems this location will try to create smaller and cozier room settings to display the furniture.
While we found out about the construction activity from a reader (thank you!), we did find a recent official announcement from Washington Township.
On March 27th, Washington Township’s Economic Consultant Nancy Mozzachio spoke at the Town’s Council meeting to give an update.
The 4 minute video clip is on Facebook (video link). At the 1:27 minute mark, she speaks briefly on the upcoming Creative Galleries Store.
We do not have details on their expected opening date.
