Two popular fast food chains are in the process of approvals for Camden County locations, with a new Chick-fil-A approved for the Gloucester Premium Outlets extended property, and a McDonald’s which is planned for Brooklawn at a former church property had it’s hearing rescheduled.
UPDATE: The Brooklawn McDonald’s Project is NOT scheduled for the January 8th Planning Meeting.
Both hearings were originally scheduled for November and I attended both of them… Only to find out that each of them were postponed!
The rescheduled hearing for Chick-fil-A at the Gloucester Premium Outlets took place just last week (I could not attend), and the McDonald’s hearing for Brooklawn is re-scheduled for January 8th (according to Brooklawn Borough email response on 12/13)

Chick-Fil-A at Gloucester Premium Outlets
A new Chick-fil-A was approved for the extended property of the Gloucester Premium Outlets. Specifically the location is adjacent to the roundabout entrance off of Route 42, and next to the Dave and Buster’s building.
Currently the property is owned by the Gloucester Premium Outlets (Simon) but with this approval the property (for Chick-Fil-A) will be sold to the McDonald’s developer.
The 5,400 square foot restaurant will feature a multi-lane drive-thru and other associated improvements.
This segment of undeveloped property is clearly bordered by access roads for the outlets. The Chick-fil-A will not be taking the entire undeveloped space, and will be positioned closer to the roundabout.

Blueprints submitted with the application state that the 82-seat restaurant requires 41 parking spaces, but this project will offer significantly more parking capacity at 99 spaces! A key aspect of the very popular fast food chicken restaurant.
While there are existing Chick-fil-A restaurants in adjacent towns of Deptford and Washington Township, this location at the Outlets will likely prove to be very popular.
Currently at the Gloucester Premium Outlets there are limited dining options (after closing their food court)… with only Friendly’s and Dave & Busters offering permanent restaurant experiences.
Additionally if you factor in how many cars travel Route 42 each day, including the significant numbers of cars commuting back home on the south side, summertime shore traffic and the nearby Camden County College… they’ll likely need all of those parking spaces!

42Freeway first wrote about the then upcoming Planning Meeting back on October 21st when the Public Notice was published (although the Patch did beat me to getting the story online!)
42Freeway does not have a timeline on the development of this location at this time, but considerable work still remains for the full redevelopment process and property sale.. before development could start.
McDonald’s For Brooklawn NJ
Back in early October I shared news with readers of plans to develop a brand new McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Brooklawn New Jersey, right along Route 130 at Community Road… this was prior to any notices of a public hearing.
UPDATE: The Brooklawn McDonald’s Project is NOT scheduled for the January 8th Planning Meeting.
The targeted property for McDonald’s is the former Saint Maurice Church which is now owned by the Brooklawn Borough.

That hearing was also originally scheduled for November, to which myself and maybe twenty residents attended the meeting at the small borough hall meeting room.
There was a last-minute postponement of the hearing, when it was determined that Brooklawn Council first needed to do a formal resolution approval for the related redevelopment aspects of the project, before the Planning Board hearing could take place… but the Council Meeting was set to take place a few days after the Planning Board meeting.
It seemed everyone was ready for the hearing to take place but everyone agreed it was important that everything be done in the proper order as prescribed by New Jersey Redevelopment Law.

Residents who attended the meeting did try to ask questions and bring up concerns as they sat in the audience, but the Planning Board members had to politely explain to the residents that the board could not address those questions at that time, as the project hearing was not formally taking place.
It was then expected that the McDonald’s hearing would be scheduled for the December meeting, but I’ve been told by Brooklawn Borough representatives that the McDonald’s Hearing is set for the January 8th Planning and Zoning Board meeting.
I am working on getting the plans for this project to share with readers.
