Closed for the prior two seasons, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream on Greentree Road in Washington Township has reopened with new local ownership who are excited to welcome back the community!
I stopped in this afternoon and caught up with Washington Township resident Kristen who with her husband Tim have taken over the Bruster’s Ice Cream location… bringing fresh real ice cream, sherbets/ices and sorbet… even dairy-free options to town.

Washington Township families have been eagerly awaiting this opening! A few years ago it looked like a car wash was going to be developed on the site!
Then last year we made the announcement about Tim and Kristen’s plans to open in 2024.. but then Tim was called back into military service which delayed the opening a year.
So with the temperatures this weekend in the mid-80s I expect the community to come out in force to support the return of Bruster’s!
And remember, be sure to support locally owned businesses… you support and dollars are what keeps them thriving… could you imagine if this were a car wash instead!?

Bruster’s Ice Cream Washington Twp
The Bruster’s location is just off of the Egg Harbor Road intersection, directly across from the Greentree Road Starbucks.
It’s a nicely designed building and property which almost feels tucked away within the woods. Once you turn in off of Greentree Rd you feel like you are instantly in Bruster’s Ice Cream Land!
The Bruster’s building sits in the middle of the parking lot which offers plenty of parking around the perimeter.

You can order at the walk-up window at the front of the building, or choose to just stay in your car and use the drive-thru which wraps around the back.
There are some new things with the reopening of Bruister’s includes all new digital screen menus for both the building and the drive-thru lane which offers the new owners the easiest method of updating the menus with new products, as well as highlighting other special promotions or flavors.
One thing that is different from the reopening is that the Nathan’s Hot Dog Restaurant aspect is no longer part of the experience… Tim and Kristen wanted to focus on the ice cream aspect of the business. This did require them to change up the signage and the front wraparound awning.

Standing at the window placing my order I couldn’t help but be happily overwhelmed by the sweet delicious scent of the vanilla waffle cones wafting through the window… They make them fresh all day at Bruster’s, and it smells so good I don’t know how anyone could order anything else but one of the waffle cones!
I was looking for something completely different and unique and Kristen suggested the cotton candy ice cream which also features pop rock candies!!

I took a chance on it.. I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet ice creams but with the Bruster’s recipe I got the flavor of cotton candy but it was not overpowering or too sweet.
It’s a full family affair at Bruster’s where her older kids are also helping out with the ice cream stand and they’re probably now the most popular kids in the Washington Township school district!
Their website page shows hours as being 11am to 10pm every day and you can even order ahead online!
