Boston Market Deptford is Reopened, South Jersey’s Only Location (Dec 2024)

The Boston Market fast-casual restaurant in Deptford NJ reopened recently, after a many weeks which had started in October. The closure was related to business operational aspects of the restaurant.

I stopped in today to find a clean restaurant and a small staff of hard-working employees who in general conversation were excited to be working again at the restaurant, and hopeful that Boston Market Deptford continues to remain open for a long time!

The in-store menu features a full array of the classic Boston Market menu items including soups, salads, crispy chicken sandwiches, rotisserie carver sandwiches as well as their other market entrees including Meatloaf, Turkey and Baby Back Ribs.

I ordered the classic Boston Market “half of a rotisserie chicken meal”, with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese.

For my rotisserie chicken, the chicken was cooked properly but as a guy who’s probably eaten at Boston Market more than 100 times over the decades, it does seem that the recipes are different today (than pre-pandemic) with a milder flavor/seasoning for all of the items I ordered.

According to the Boston Market online ordering site there are now only 20 locations remaining. Besides Deptford NJ, they also have a few area locations in Philadelphia, North Jersey and Delaware (with the other locations spread across New York, Illinois, Ohio, Massachusetts and Texas)

This is down from what was reported to be over 300 locations in 2020… just four years ago.

I would imagine that Boston Market is known to everyone in the South Jersey area so this isn’t a viral-level “new restaurant” story… but since I had covered their closure in October I felt it was proper to provide an update on the story regarding the Deptford reopening, as best as I could.

At different times over the last year I have tried to reach out to Boston Market management/ownership to get more details on the local restaurants, and honestly they do not make it easy to contact them (nor have they reached out to me)

As an example of not being easy to contact… even now with a refreshed website offering dedicated holiday season marketing pages (clearly updated recently), the phone number that they offer to speak to a “Holiday Expert” answers with a recorded message saying the phone number is for sale.

They also list 2 phone numbers which seem to be related to catering, and neither answered.

So if you are having a sense of nostalgia and looking for a hot meal after your Holiday shopping experience in Deptford… Boston Market is open!
