Washington Township resident Joe Iaconelli recently announced on Facebook that he will be opening a Blended Joe Coffee shop in his hometown, offering their delicious small-batch roasted coffees as well as a new “made in-house” food menu. (Facebook)
I spoke to Joe today to get the details on his plans for Washington Township and more.
The new Washington Township Blended Joe location is coming to the strip of stores located next to PJ Whelihan’s and the Jefferson Hospital… where Egg Harbor Road and Hurffville-Cross Keys Roads meet.
The new take-out coffee shop will be taking over the former G&M Deli unit which became available about 18 mos ago.
Blended Joe was founded in 2018 as a coffee roaster and online distributor… using only specialty grade pure arabica coffee beans that are meticulously roasted in small batches to ensure quality and consistency.
With plans to expand into traditional retail coffee shop offerings, earlier this year they opened a coffee bar location inside of Mantua Twp’ s Pizza Tower Restaurant. That endeavor has proven successful for Blended Joe, but with the opportunity to develop a dedicated location in nearby Washington Township, the Mantua location will location will close on December 20th
A key driver for this relocation to Washington Twp is that Joe and his partners have plans to open additional coffee shop locations in South Jersey, and it made sense to focus on a dedicated Blended Joe coffee shop experience to fully refine the business model, menu and customer experience… as a stand-alone shop which can be easily adapted to other locations.
The Blended Joe team absolutely has the coffee aspects mastered, but as mentioned they plan on adding a food component to the coffee shop experience.
In Washington Township they plan on creating a menu which will include in-store fresh baked goods such as biscuits with gravy and cornbread. They even plan on offering home-made style grits!
Blended Joe will likely have some of the classic breakfast items you would expect but they’re really looking to offer a unique high quality and delicious food experience to pair with their fresh roasted coffees.
And with Joe living close by in the same town, plus factoring in their future growth plans… Washington Township made the most absolute sense to relocate to.
Blended Joe does offer a variety of delicious “prepared per order” coffee recipes but at Washington Township they will also offer a DIY coffee-urn experience for those who are on a tighter time schedule, and just want to pop in and grab a cup of hot fresh coffee, pay and move on.
Joe expects the build-out process for the Washington Township location to start right after the holidays.
While he does not see extensive construction needing to take place, he knows they will be developing a larger counter “Coffee Bar”… Again with the thought of developing the model which can be utilized in future locations throughout South Jersey.
Blended Joe Fresh Roasted Coffee
There’s no doubt that Blended Joe has already mastered the coffee aspects of the business!
As an example, like all coffee shops Blended Joe offers flavored coffee. The difference for them is they do not use sweetened syrups which others add into the brewed coffee at the end.
Instead Blended Joe adds a flavor coating to the beans during the roasting process! This means when you order a vanilla iced coffee you are getting a flavor that is brewed directly into the coffee. The only sugar being added to the drink is what you as a customer choose to put in!
At their Cinnaminson Headquarters Blended Joe sources the highest quality coffee beans which they prepare, roast, grind and package all on site… and as mentioned, create and add the amazing flavors.
Keep that in mind when I tell you that the Blended Joe website shows ALMOST FOUR DOZEN varieties of coffee across several categories; Signature, House Blend, Seasonal, Special Edition and Monthly specials.
Examples of the unique and delicious sounding flavors are orange creamsicle, banana nut bread, wild blueberry, chocolate Raspberry, crumb cake, cinnamon bun and apple pie!
Joe was quick to highlight his partners and entire team for the success and future growth of Blended Joe.
Long-term partner Rachel Brown helps behind the scenes, building out all the technology for Blended Joe which also includes inventory and order management systems as well as detailed reporting for their fundraising sales capabilities.
Recently Joe added a third partner with Eric Powell Jr joining on with Blended Joe. Eric is a successful businessperson operating several creative-focused businesses as well as a nonprofit. He brings a lot of business and marketing knowledge to the family.
