Blackwood-Clementon: Rita's Building Gone, Entenmann's Under Demo, Doctor's Office Gone

Big changes underway on Blackwood-Clementon Road!

To make way for a new Wawa, the small Rita’s Water Ice building was demoed this week, and the large former Entenmann’s building is being demolished right now.

And just one property away, the Doctor’s office (former Nifty Fifties) is gone to make way for a ModWash Carwash!

Sitting between the two properties is a closed Pizza Hut which has no plans attached to it yet… but very quickly the landscape of the roadway is changing even more.

Also still to come is a new Giant Fitness on the other side of Blackwood-Clementon Road, and ShopRite will be moving to the long closed K-Mart!

42Freeway follows the Blackwood-Clementon projects extensively… we knew the Entenmann’s property was coming down soon and I was just there days before the demo started to get some drone footage. Timing is everything! I share some of that here, including shots of where the Mod Car Wash is coming.

SoJo 104.9 was the first to have up the news on the Rita’s building coming down.. but we both saw the same Facebook town post to tip us off. 🙂 I knew Entenmann’s was also coming down so I waited a day to catch an image of that.

Super Wawa – Entenmann’s and Rita’s

A new Wawa was previously approved for Blackwood-Clementon Road just last summer.

42Freeway broke the story of that proposal on June 15, 2021… and have referenced it in other posts regarding new developments on the road.

The new Wawa will sit in the large lot that is/was occupied by the former Entenmann’s warehouse and distribution store, and a smaller building which house a Rita’s Water Ice franchise.

Rita’s Water Ice has said they will return to the area, but they are still securing a new location. It seems unlikely that we will see them open this year.

As I mentioned in the intro, I was aware the demo was coming soon and stopped over a week prior.

The former Entenmann’s Building is being demolished to make way for a new Wawa.

I also saw at the time are large concrete pipe sections sitting on the corner of the property, giving me further evidence the demo was coming soon.

I just timed my last visit week a few days too early!

ModWash Car Wash

ModWash Car Wash is developing another South Jersey location, the Blackwood-Clementon Road location taking over where years ago Nifty Fifties had a location. Most recently it was a doctor’s office.

42Freeway presented that story back in September 2021.

ModWash has also started construction on another Gloucester Township location, over in the East part of town at the corner of Berlin Cross-Keys Rd and New Brooklyn-Erial Road.

ModWash Car Wash is coming to Blackwood-Clementon Road, in the site of former Doctor’s Office, which before that was Nifty Fifties.

There is also another new location finishing up development over in Washington Township on the Black Horse Pike.

Another location was approved for Magnolia on the White Horse Pike.

And one is opened already on Berlin Cross-Keys Road in Williamstown.

We also know that a location is in the works for Deptford NJ!

The company has an aggressive plan to go from zero to 100 locations around the country in just a few short years! It seems South Jersey is a big part of those plans!
