810 Billiards & Bowling opens today in Vineland NJ! The large 23,000 square foot facility offers bowling, billiards, arcade, sports simulations, axe throwing, restaurant and bar… all under one roof.
I stopped in yesterday to get the full tour of Vineland’s new and exciting entertainment facility, where I tried a delicious Mean Mugs milkshake, some tasty Buffalo wings with an ice cold beer… as well as tried out many of their fun and awesome games.
Owner Gary knows the Vineland community very well as he also owns the popular Brass Tap Craft Beer Bar in town. For his new 810 Bowling and Billiards venture he wants to offer a fun experience for all ages, whether you’re a family with young children, a couple on a date, or a group of friends looking to have a fun night out! I’ve met Gary twice now and each time he mentions “friends and families making memories”
A bonus aspect to 810 is that while the focus is on each guest having a fully interactive experience, technology has been blended into the fun.
For example, it was really cool to try axe throwing where a variety of digital games are projected onto the wood backdrop. I watched one young man pick off digital targets with the axe like he was an expert thrower from ESPN 2!
810 Billiards and Bowling is located on Delsea Drive next to the Cumberland Mall property (specifically next to Red Lobster), but there is no direct access from the Mall parking lot… so to visit 810 Billiards & Bowling you need to use the side road “Smith Street”, which is next to the former Friendly’s/Royal Diner property.
They are now fully open but expect things to be a little busy the first few days and weeks, so keep in mind you can make reservations online for bowling, simulators and more!
810 Billiards & Bowling – Vineland
Based on the name “bowling and billiards” they are the featured aspects of the new family entertainment facility in Vineland… but it offers so much more!
The entrance is at the rear of the building where a brand-new large parking lot was developed.
Upon entering you immediately see the Host stand to the right where 810 employees can help you choose your fun experience.
There is no admission charge to enter 810 Billiards & Bowling, but the individual activities do have costs which are typically time based… rent a bowling lane for an hour or two for example.
But if you just want to stop in and check the place out, maybe buy a Mean Mugs Milkshake or stop at the back bar area for a beer and a burger, you can absolutely do that!
The design of the interior layout is somewhat U-shaped. You enter from the center entrance but that leads you initially down the left half. At the far side of the building it leads right, to where the bowling alleys and billiard tables are.
As soon as you enter, likely what’s going to immediately “grab your eyes” is the arcade games with their bright lights and colors helping to create a brighter and festive vibe to this area.
And these are not your old school arcade games… every single game is a large an interactive experience! Also in the arcade mix are fun “jersey shore” style games such as skeeball, basketball as well as the “claw” prize games.
In the left front corner is the Mean Mugs Milkshake stand. Mean Mugs shakes are delicious and (literally) over-the-top milkshakes where they extend way above the top of the glass. Each variety of milkshake has its own themed character.
I tried the Crazy Nut which is a peanut themed milkshake which extended up about twice as high as the milkshake cup. The top edible adornments featured Nutter Butter Cookies, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Drizzle and more. So many different taste experiences with just this one flavor!
Moving past the initial host area is the axe-throwing space which is cleverly designed with a dedicated table area directly in front of each axe-throwing unit. I really like this design a lot as it connects your party with the axe-throwing takes place so friends and family can cheer each other on!
And as mentioned, with the digital projection technology and sensors… while you can play a very traditional axe-throwing match, there’s also a variety of fun and innovative games. In my short experience the sensor seems to be quite accurate.
Next up in the experiences is the sports simulation space.
There are three dedicated simulator spaces which also include a dedicated front seating area right up close to the action.
Likely one of the most popular uses will be for the golf simulator where you stand in front of the projection screen, and hit your ball into the screen which is then projected on to the video image.
But at 810 Billiards & Bowling the sports simulation includes a variety of other games! I got to see families playing a soccer simulation where the screen depicted an animated soccer goal and goalie, and the young kids were kicking an actual soccer ball into the screen trying to score against the virtual goalie!
At the rear of the buildings left side is the casual dining and bar area.
The dining space is a good size area but keep in mind many of the activities offered at 810 have their own dedicated table areas where you can eat and drink (say, during your Golf Simulator experience).
The menu at 810 Billiards & Bowling is casual featuring burgers, wings and chicken tenders, pizza, nachos, tacos and quesadillas and a whole lot more.
Just in the appetizer “Starters” category there’s at least a dozen different choices including pub-style pretzels, bangin’ shrimp, chili cheese fries, fried pickles and more.
Following the theme of innovative bonus technology they have a really smart ordering system at 810.
Each table area (including the bowling alley lanes and the simulators/axe throwing areas) have a unique QR Code. You scan the code to access the menu and place your order and pay right from your seat. The QR code also identifies your seating area so when your order is ready, staff brings it out directly to your table!
I’m more of a “bar fly” kind of guy, so I sat at the bar for my wings and beer which was a much more traditional “order with my bartender” experience.
The bar seats about 10 people and it offers 2 televisions. Several beers were on tap.
I went simple with my menu order and tried the Buffalo wings which I found to be very good, offering a tangy flavor with the mild heat.
From this rear dining/bar area is the center crossover entrance to the right side of 810… where the bowling and billiards tables are located.
This area is raised up just a couple steps (and yes there is a ramp) and the ambience changes in this space, with a darker lighting scheme which is accented by the colorful lighting of the lanes and billiard table overhead lights.
In the center of this space are the billiards tables which during the week can be rented for as little as $10.00!
For bowling there are 16 lanes total but they are separated into two distinct segments of ten lanes and six lanes.
It’s a smart design because the six lanes are off to the right a little bit, and while still clearly part of the entire 810 facility it would make a perfect space for a more private bowling party or corporate event.
I did not take a turn at bowling, but in watching others play I could see that everything about the scoring system was digital. They also offered the optional gutter rails for younger players, as well as bowling ball ramps which I’ve seen used at times by players who need a little bit of extra assistance… even a player in a wheelchair can join in on the bowling fun!
Overall I think this is a great addition to the Vineland community and Cumberland County as a whole… plus I expect it to be a destination place for many who will utilize its easy access off of Route 55 to drive in from other parts of South Jersey and beyond.
