Small Bites and Blue Jean Food

42Freeway also spent some time chatting after the show with lead host Derek Timm.  Derek was sharing that podcast industry site Feedspot named the Small Bites podcast one of the top 30 Hospitality podcast to listen to in 2020!  It’s already gaining him more global exposure… he heard about this listing from an Australian media outlet who reached out to him regarding making the list!
I personally marvel at the work that goes into the show, both by Derek and the show’s producer.  It’s a very well tuned engine, from guest coordination and flow and Derek is the heart of it.
In my chat with Derek I asked about his background.  Well it all starts with his website BlueJeanFood.com
He and his wife love to travel and enjoy food.  He mentioned they have been to every continent!  So specific to food, whenever they ate locally Derek would always comment to his wife mini reviews of the food.  She encourage him to start a blog… and with no action on his part she went ahead and created for him BlueJeanFood.com!  The name comes from the idea… Derek feels most comfortable in places that he can where blue jeans to!
His site growth and exposure led to him helping write, contribute and participate on a radio show with famed radio personality Ed Hitzel.  A series of growing opportunities followed and in many cases another series of left-turns… but it’s clear Derek has found his rightful place at Small Bites podcast.  His personality is clearly the heart and engine of the show.
Today the BlueJeanFood.com website still runs, but is more of a food experience blog… and the review aspect has diminished.
