New Tavern Planned For Mt Ephraim’s Little Caesar’s Building (Next to McDonald’s)
Reading Time: 2 minutes

We first saw the liquor license change back in July and didnt get to posting on it… but now things are moving forward for a new tavern to be developed in Mt Ephraim on the Black Horse Pike close to 295.

The building/lot is the former Little Caesar’s Pizza (Subway) located next to McDonald’s, with an official address of 267 South Black Horse Pike, Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey.

The other side of the proposed Tavern property is the Willow Glen Apartments.

Currently the property is zoned as Restaurant, and on January 11th, 2021 the Mt Ephraim Planning Board will review the site plan and required variances needed to allow the property to be used as a Tavern.

The current notice does not give a lot of details, but the liquor license change in July 2020 states that the McElhiney family of Haddonfield had taken over the license under an LLC called McStone’s.

We’re not sure if McStone’s is the official name for the new Tavern, but it is a cool name on its own… and also seems to fit the family’s day jobs as they operate a Granite and Marble Company in Blackwood.

We reached out to Joe via Facebook back in July but did not get a reply. Facebook has that damn secret “you dont know this person” Inbox, so it’s probable that our message was not seen.

The location puts them on a well traveled section of the Black Horse Pike with very close access to 295…and Bellmawr is just across the overpass.

It is not clear if there will be a new building developed,  or a retrofit/expansion of the current building.   We will be in contact with the Town to get a copy of the siteplan.

Many will remember on the OTHER side of the McDonald’s there was an Ollie Gators bar and Restaurant in the small strip mall (about 25 years ago?) and before that in the early 80s there was a Club Hollywood which sat closer to the Black Horse Pike where the Oil Change place is.

Bobby Ray’s & Spread Eagle

To be clear the “McStone’s” bar project is ANOTHER new bar…  Bobby Ray’s is being developed on other edge of Mount Ephraim’s Black Horse Pike.   That project has changed significantly since owner Bobby purchased Guiseppi’s Bar… going from a remodel to a complete rebuild!

Coincidentally we visited Bobby Ray’s Mt Ephraim last week and saw the construction progress….  we then reached out to Bobby and he is providing us with additional photos… so we may have more bar news to share tomorrow.  Remember Bobby Ray’s main location is in Pennsauken and they are open!  Go like their FB Page.

I also find it interesting that about 5 years ago Mount Ephraim saw a THIRD (first?) new bar get developed, with the Spread Eagle opening with all new construction on Kings Highway.  Surprising to me that in this era of national chain eateries, that Mt Ephraim will soon be the home to THREE all new local bar restaurants!
