A Philadelphia ice cream institution since 1989, Scoop DeVille is crossing the river and opening a new location in Haddon Township NJ on January 22nd.
The Scoop DeVille menu features delicious soft serve, shakes, fresh dipped bananas, sundaes and more… but their signature item is their custom soft serve ice cream blends, where Scoop DeVille are the only ice cream shop that lets you create your own flavor right on the spot!

The 101 Haddon Ave building they are taking over is just a few blocks from Cuthbert Blvd and has a long history as iconic frozen treat eateries… most recently operating as a Rita’s Water Ice, and originally developed as a Carvel Ice Cream store.
Owner Spencer Phillips attended Penn University in Philadelphia and became a frequent Scoop DeVille customer. Over time he got to know the owners, which grew into a partnership and then eventually Spencer and his wife took over the business.
As the family started to grow they relocated their home to Haddonfield, and he’s been looking for location in the area likely since the day they moved in… before finding an availability at the Haddon Ave location.
While news of the plans for the new location were known last summer, back on January 1st of this year Spencer announced at the popular South Jersey Food Scene Facebook Group the opening date as January 22nd, and that at the time was looking for their initial employees.
Scoop DeVille makes their own ice cream and also has a baking operation… When you order an ice cream cookie sandwich, even the cookie was baked fresh right inside the store!
Currently they have two Philadelphia locations (South St, Walnut St), a Fishtown location is coming… and of course the Haddon Township location is opening in less than two weeks
The menu offers a large variety of freshly made delicious ice cream and more, as well as a variety of vegan, dairy free and gluten-free options.
The vegan menu also offers vegan breakfast sandwiches such as the McReeky which is char-grilled marinated tofu, with cheddar cheese and sausage on an English muffin.
Scoop DeVille also offers acai bowls (which are very popular right now) and also has a mango bowl version!
They’ve also become masters at supporting off-site events… with full ice cream catering for your latest party or private event with a variety of fun “make your own” options.
Opening January 22nd, I’ll likely see ya’ll there!
